Fill had an unwavering desire to channel his creative energy and embark on an entrepreneurial journey. However, his previous attempts at launching various ideas had left him financially depleted and hesitant to take another leap. Determined to break free from a conventional existence, Fill decided to set up a small sports clothing business in his garage, armed with a sewing machine and a vision. He began crafting sports clothing, pouring his heart and soul into each design. Undeterred by initial setbacks, he took his creations directly to sporting events, selling them out of his car. With each passing day, demand for his products grew, propelling his fledgling company into expansion. Today Nike is one of the biggest sports industries with 1,032 retail stores through the entire world.

“My curiosity has driven me to travel the world to meet new people, but more importantly, to reflect on and discover our full potential through my initiative, The Project Inside Out. But first, let me return to the source of my inspiration.

I went on a two-week retreat to Egypt to refresh myself. I was there all day to reflect and meditate. While meditating, a few thoughts came to me that altered my life. “ I never thought I would have the opportunity to represent my country, Djibouti, as a young parliamentarian, but it changed my life. In school, I was like any other child—worried about exams, excited and anxious about competitions. Presentations were like an energy drain for me. I looked at people onstage and asked myself, "How can they do that?" Until the day that the school chose me as a junior member of Parliament, everything changed. Even though it was incredible to travel to different countries, learn, and do so much, it also took me out of my comfort zone. Watching presenters onstage used to be something I did from a distance, but suddenly, I found myself in their shoes! I represented Djibouti at the Arab League Children's Parliament, at COP27 in Sharm-el-Sheikh, and the 18th Francophone Summit in Tunisia. I also had the opportunity to do a story for BBC Africa. Through hard work and dedication, I was able to achieve things I once thought were impossible. My advice to young people is to seize every opportunity that comes their way, even if it doesn't seem appealing at first, to always be prepared to work hard and strive for progress. When it comes to speaking on stage, the only enemy is your mind. And remember, where there's a will, there's a way!”

“I graduated with good grades, and my goal in life was to become a successful and famous agronomist. I wanted to work on increasing the food self-sufficiency rate of the country. Life was very easy for me until I started looking for a job. I spent days and nights in the city in search of work. Several years passed with no results. It seemed to me that life had other plans.

One day, while drinking coffee, I suddenly thought, "Would you like to become a barista?" After all, I like coffee. I would like to know how to make it. But I quickly laughed and pushed the thought away. How can an educated man become a barista? And how do people see me?

I started feeling bored with each passing day and became dependent on others. My plan A failed, and I had no plan B. Wait a minute, I remembered coffee—barista? I started thinking more seriously. The anxious part of me was screaming, 'NO! But my mind scrutinized the thought. I finally decided to move elsewhere and become a barista!

Moving to Muqdisho was a new experience for me. I'm curious and love traveling and coffee. When I got to the city, I knew where my next destination was. After hearing so much about Beydan Coffee, I didn't hesitate to go there. And finally, I was lucky enough to find a job!

For the first few days, I was afraid that someone would recognize me. I couldn't look people in the eye. However, this feeling gradually disappeared. I no longer think about how other people see me. I even like what I do. In a few years, I want to take this delicious coffee home and open a coffee shop in Hargeisa. I still have a dream in the corner of my head that I want to succeed!” Meegaal
