VIDEO IN THE BIO: Ontario NDP Proposes Bill 94 To Protect LGBTQ Events Like Drag Story Time, Reactionaries IMPLODE
This is going to be a major debate in the weeks and months to come. Let's make sure we know what we are talking about before reactionaries try to use this proposal to fear monger further into a trans panic.
We went through an article, the actual bill for Bill 94: Keeping 2SLGBTQI+ Communities Safe Act, the Debate in the Ontario Legislature (will Ontario Conservatives even consider Bill 94 in good faith?), and the press conference from the .
The ONDP deserves praise for this proposal. If it were to become law, it would be the first law of it's kind in North America and probably the world.

Before we talked to Matt, we had the chance to go over the past Peterborough City Council meeting, which saw a slew of amendments to bylaws, some grants made out to the community, and the report from adviser Reem Ali about Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. One major topic was the switch to private guards, away from city staff and police, to enforce people living in tents. Thanks for listening!

Tonight (Thursday) at 8pm EST we are doing something a little different and interviewing a documentary filmmaking who specializes in UFOs, UAPs and Cryptids. has an extensive list of films on IMDB, including many that are available for free on Amazon Prime. We were originally connected a few weeks ago when the sensationalized hype around Flying Objects was sweeping over Canada and the U.S., so we are also hoping to tie some of Darcy's knowledge back to Earthling news and politics!

Some bad stories ... like printing an Anti-Trans advertisement and publishing a letter to the editor from a known Anti-Trans pastor *cough* Ben Inglis.
But also some good stories, like how laws that once targetted LGBTQ+ people and women seeking abortions can now be expunged from records. Some say "too late," but it is better to see us moving in a better direction than *cough* our neighbours to the south.
B.C. is introducing universal contraception coverage, which is another W for women and a great step towards equity in our healthcare system. Other provinces, however, *cough* Ontario, are showing no signs of moving in the same direction.

CW: Calls for violence against LGBTQ+ people.
Sometimes it's fun to just make some culture war content … but these issues are also important because they manifest in real life. The rise of fascism is real and the fascists, go figure, are calling for genocide. On social media today, a video is circulating where Michael Knowles of the Daily Wire told CPAC (American CPAC, not Canadian CPAC) that "Transgenderism must be eradicated from public life entirely." This is a clear call for genocide against a group of people. This is n**i rhetoric. It's disgusting and it's widespread. It must be stopped and we should do everything in our power to stop it.
On stream this past week, we watched Ezra Levant (CEO of Rebel News) on Tucker Carlson (talking head on Fox News) as they cried about a pastor in Calgary who got YOINKED after making families feel unsafe at a Drag Story Time Event.
We also read through an article about how prominent far-right organizers are criticizing Pierre Poilievre for … wait for it … having the good sense to try to distance himself from a known neo-n**i, who just so happens to be a "folk hero" of the convoy crowd.
The culture war, sadly, is a front that we must fight on and I am trying to create content that is both entertaining and valuable to a broader leftist movement—one that is simultaneously anti-fascist and working to build something stronger to replace the status quo.
Sincere thank you to those who have supported me so far. I've posted at least 1 video a day for almost two months! I'm learning a lot about this process and I'm gonna keep going! ✌️

Guess who is back at it again with the Live Action Role Playing? This time Caryma and her cameraman got booted out of a Pierre Poilievre rally. That might sound like a W on it's face (obvi we are no fan of PP on my channel) but it's important to remember that actual journalists don't just show up trying to cause a scene in the name of content creation. LARPing as a journalist hurts the profession of journalists … just like LARPing as an activist hurts the movements of actual activists.

New Video. This is a curious case 🧐 Some students at Trent University are campaigning to defund the aka their own student newspaper. The twist is that they are peddling disinformation in order to achieve their goals. The Editorial Staff and Board at Arthur responded to the allegations to set the record straight.
As the intro in the video clarifies: I am employed by the Arthur where I mostly help with design stuff. The Co-ordinating Editor and I have also started a weekly podcast, "Peterborough Politics Podcast," which deals with in in the format.

Update: We Are Winning!
The Fraser Institute (a Conservative think-tank) and Leger conducted a poll that found out ... wait for it ... socialism is popular! As it turns out, a system that is more democratic and more equitably distributes wealth (that workers themselves created) is more popular among people who are feeling the widening gap between poor and rich (a divide that capitalism creates.

After covid lockdowns and because of an increased desire to work from home, governments are having trouble funding public transit. Instead of cutting services and further discouraging ridership (often referred to as the "death spiral"), we need to find alternative ways to fund public transit.
Furthermore, we shouldn't simply sentence people back to the office in order to save transit or to save downtown businesses. We should work towards creating vibrant cities that encourages more than a routine of work-shop-home-shop.
We dove deeper into these ideas (link in the story or find MyHomie2Taro on youtube). Lately, I've been more fascinated with problems like these that require excellent civil engineering to solve.

We were streaming as the events of today unfolded at Toronto City Council's budget meeting! Wild and wicked times that we are living in. Toronto Police have so much to gain ($50 million) and John Tory has hung around like a case of long covid despite announcing his resignation.
Protesters were removed from the gallery at the council meeting. Some were chanting "House the homeless, feed the poor / Kick John Tory out the door."
This is the "democracy" we are living in. A failure on so many levels!

Today we talked about what nobody was talking about but now everybody is talking about. The train derailment in Ohio is frightening. Only 160km from the Canadian border, this will affect this area for decades to come ... and it was completely avoidable.
If Biden doesnt win the next election, I wouldn't be surprised if this is the reason why. This was avoidable and the direct result of forcing workers back to work and ignoring their concerns.

Love it when a dog whistling white supremacist with a gigantic audience "jokes" about invading Canada. Sadly, there are large swoths of Canadians who would probably welcome the notion, including the so-called journalists who work for the Epoch Times. Perhaps more sad is that Conservative politicians couldn't condemn Tucker Carlson when MP Matthew Green made a motion to condemn Fox News.

There's a conspiracy going around that having walkable, bikable, ridable, accessible cities is a globalist plot by the World Monetary Fund to ummm, I dunno, take peoples cars away? 🧐 We looked into it and were SHOCKED to find that it was actually about having an increased sense of community and a healthier, more convenient relationship to the necessities of life.

Last week, something kinda clicked and I realized I could do a quick rundown of the news—paraphrasing (+ gently spinning leftwards) everything I've read in the newspaper that morning. It's become my regular practice ever since. (The image above is the thumbnail for today's news, link in the story or find MyHomie2Taro on Youtube).
Keeping this in my stream routine helps me process and remember what I am reading + chat can add spin too. I don't have the best reading retention (is anybody else an audio/visual learner?) so this will help me build context as stories develop.
I'm trying to get quicker, too. Eventually, I'd like these segments to be under 20 minutes each! Although, I tend to put them on 1.25x or 1.5x speed if I ever listen to them back and that seems to be a little more engaging.
I'd also like to figure out a workflow for how I can get these videos on Youtube quicker (before the Twitch stream ends). The thumbnail game is pretty formulaic and people (apparently) don't mind me doing a little photoshop magic on stream.
Anyways, all of this is really to say that I want live streaming to be a practice that keeps me disciplined and educated. Of course, debates/drama will get the views (and I want to do more of that stuff too) but having a consistent practice makes it a healthier experience for me.

Yesterday, addressed the Conservative caucus, so we watched and debunked some of his rhetoric.
He is effective at tapping into some very legitimate issues that are facing. However, he offers no actual solutions and plays a political blame game.
