RIP John Lewis your legacy is awe inspiring.
It was incredible to watch them carry John Lewis’ body across the Edmund Pettis Bridge. The site where his skull was fractured by police so many years ago.
It was bittersweet to remember that the reason they were marching in Selma in the first place was to protest the killing of a black Civil Rights activist named Jimmie Lee Jackson by Alabama State Troopers in 1965
To understand that John Lewis fought against police brutality and for Voter rights for Black people.
To understand that Jimmie Lee Jackson was killed during a voting rights march. And to understand that both police brutality and voting rights for Black people are still at issue in America today.
Your legacy reminds us that we’ve come quite a way, but we’ve still got so very far to go. From now on I’ll be dedicated to starting
Thanks Mr. Lewis, you fought the good fight!
