We are excited to share the sixth issue of Vishwabandhu! In this issue, we celebrate and commemorate the centenary of Rabindranath Tagore’s visit to China in 1924. Tagore’s visit had a profound impact on the relationship of the two countries and civilizations. In celebrating this centenary, we also honour Tan Yun Shan, a Chinese friend and disciple of Tagore and Gandhi. The year long celebration of the centenary of Tagore's trip to China and for peace in Asia began yesterday with an inauguration of a 60 photo exhibition. The exhibition, at the historic Indian Institute of World Culture, covers Tagore's trip, the life of Tan Yun Shan and the history of friendship between India and China. The exhibition is dedicated to Tan Yun Shan and the children of Palestine.

Their relationship is one of many such brotherly friendships that show that the African liberation movements, Indian freedom struggle and the Black freedom movement were different sides of the same movement for human freedom.
