Are you coming to watch the Beacon being lit on Thursday night for Her Majesty The Queen?
The Duffield Beacon in Vulcan Park, Workington, will be lit this Thursday 2nd June, as part of a nationwide commemoration to Her Majesty The Queen and her 70 year reign.
SCHEDULE:
- Town band will be playing in the park from 9pm.
- There will also be a coffee van in the park for those wishing to purchase refreshments while they wait.
- Speeches from The Mayor and The Mayor's Chaplain
- Bugler will then play 'Majesty' at 9.43pm.
- Beacon will be lit by The Mayor at 9.45pm.
- Band to continue playing for a few more songs before guests depart.
- The beacon will be lit using gas.
More than 1,500 beacons will be lit throughout the United Kingdom, Channel Islands, Isle of Man and UK Overseas Territories, and one in each of the capital cities of Commonwealth countries in recognition of The Queen’s long and selfless service. The beacons will enable local communities, individuals and organisations to pay tribute to her as part of the official Platinum Jubilee Weekend of celebrations from 2nd to 5th June 2022.
