Looking around, it’s humbling to see how much we have in the U.S.
so much we often take for granted. But when I visited a community facing daily uncertainty, it was eye-opening. On Saturday, the government-delivered bread didn’t show up, and power outages ruined their food. Yet, despite everything, their unwavering faith stood strong.

The community was everything because it’s all they have.
In this culture, people don’t move around as we do, they rely on the same neighbours every day. Meanwhile, many of us don’t even know the person across the street. But here, through Christianity, they’re bound together by a common thread, supporting each other in good times and bad.
If things get tough, the community comes together to help, no questions asked. That’s a true connection. 🙏

Visited a small town filled with old, cobblestone buildings
nothing modern, just timeless history. We arrived at our companion church, where the congregation was waiting at the lower level. About 100-120 people, all clapping and welcoming us. It was such a moving experience.
Their faith is it's not conditional, it's everything to them. In Cuba, faith is what they hold on to every single day, and to feel their love and devotion was beyond words. Truly humbling. 🙏

Just returned from Bolondron, Cuba!
Havana was full of history and classic cars, but our journey took us to small communities with spotty electricity and homes damaged by a hurricane and earthquake. 40% of buildings are uninhabitable.
As a missionary, I couldn’t help but wonder, what is God trying to show us? 🙏

The classic community story is the three little pigs and you know the straw house the wood house and then it's the brick house you're trying to keep the wolf out and the big bad wolf and YPYP is very much we are trying to keep the big bad wolf out I don't know what kind of houses we all live in I think that's the point too is I some members might live in the brick house and they may have less of a fear of the big bad wolf and in that position maybe they're a contributor very much to helping other people and then somebody else lives in the wood house and they're a little bit more vulnerable not only do they need a little bit more but you know they share things from a very different perspective having that vulnerability living in a wood house and then, of course, somebody who lives in a straw house we can all contribute really to keep the big bad wolf
What is the big bad wolf for you? What is the big bad wolf for me? It can be different things. It could be certain challenges or weaknesses in our lives. It could be a health crisis. It could be a family member crisis, relationship, or challenge. These are real things that come up in our lives. You want to be able to draw on the community and understand that they're gonna be there to listen to you, help, guide, give strength, and give love. Even the meekest in the community can contribute. It's not about judging as much as we want to listen to one another and try to find the wisdom in what people are offering and what they're sharing. Everybody has some wisdom, beauty, and life experience that they can offer up.
