Igboho regains Freedom, after Western diplomats mount pressure on Benin Republic, Fly to Germany.

Arrested Yoruba activist, Chief Sunday Igboho has been released.

A reliable source told Irohin Oodua that Igboho is on his way to Germany where he is expected to meet his family members

Sources said his release was party due to Western countries involving Britain, Canada, France, Germany and the United States mounting intense pressure on the Government of Benin Republic not to hand over Chief Sunday Adeyemo, (Igboho) to the Nigerian authorities.

Sources in Cotonu hinted Irohin Oodua that the Ambassadors of some Western nations reached out to the authorities of Benin Republic asking him not to hand over Chief Adeyemo to the Nigerian government.

They hinge their arguments on strong suspicion that Igboho will not get justice if returned to his home country.

“We don't think returning Igboho to Nigeria will set standards for Benin Republic in line with global human rights best practices’a diplomat told our correspondent in Benin Republic

Meanwhile,a lawyer, Mr Leesi Ebenezer Olanrewaju based in the United States who is one of those representing Chief Adeyemo said there are strong indications Benin Republic will not transfer Igboho to Nigeria.

Olanrewaju said the authorities of the International Police and the Government of the Republic of Benin are not willing to return Igboho to Nigeria.

He said under international laws, Igboho is not seen to have committed any crime but merely fighting for self determination which is recognised under international law

He said Benin arrested Igboho based on ‘alarm’ raised by Nigeria.

He said the British and German governments already have shown interest in the case.

He said “We are on top of the situation right now. We have successfully notified the British government on the dangers of letting Sunday Adeyemo returned to Nigeria where his life is at risk. We believe that before the end of today, BRITAIN would have granted his request for asylum in good faith.”

In 1995, a similar incidence involving Prof Adesegun Banjo and his wife Ngozi played out when they were arrested by Beninoise authorities on charges of insurgency. The government of late Gen Sani Abacha exerted so much pressure on Benin Republic including offer of 1million dollars. However, western nations put pressure on the Goverment of Benin which later released Adebanjo and his wife. The two later escaped to Ghana and later to Zimbabwe.

The reported arrest of Sunday Igboho in Cotonou is unfortunate - Reno Omokri

Reno Omokri has described the arrest of Yoruba nation activist, Sunday Igboho, as unfortunate. Igboho who was declared wanted by the DSS three weeks ago, has been arrested in Cotonou and would be repatriated to Nigeria today Tuesday, July 20.

In a post shared on his Instagram page, Reno said Igboho was a freedom fighter who was defending his people. He called on Nigerians to gather resources for Igboho legal counsel.

''The reported arrest of Sunday Igboho in Cotonou is unfortunate. He is a hero freedom fighter who defended us. We must now repay his good turn and also defend him and gather resources for his legal defence.

Igboho deserves the same commitment from us, that Buhari has shown and continues to show to killer herdsmen and bandits. Buhari has refused to categorise his kinsmen, who shot down a multimillion dollar Nigerian Airforce jet yesterday, as terrorists (they lied that they jet crashed, but the pilot survived and blew open their lies).

Yet, he has criminalised one of the few Nigerians brave enough to stand up to killer herdsmen. And that is why I stand with Igboho. Not for secession. But for defending his people.''

Yoruba Nation rally: Autopsy carried out on salesgirl says she was killed by ''missile injury,'' contradicting police claim

An autopsy has been carried out on the remains of Jumoke Oyeleke, the salesgirl who was allegedly killed by a stray bullet during the Yoruba Nation rally in Lagos on July 3.

The report which was signed by one Dr. S.S. Soyomi of the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital, Ikeja, indicated that the 25-year-old died from “haemopericardium, disruption of the heart and lungs and missile injury to the chest.” Hemopericardium refers to blood in the pericardial sac of the heart. It is clinically similar to pericardial effusion, and, depending on the volume and rapidity with which it develops, may cause cardiac tamponade.

The report contradicts the claim by the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, that Jumoke was abandoned after she might have been stabbed.

Agitators for the Yoruba Nation gathered at the Gani Fawehinmi Park at Ojota amid the presence of armed policemen and soldiers on July 3, 2021. Jumoke, who displayed soft drinks at her boss’s shop in a compound close to the rally ground, was killed when security men allegedly chased agitators into the premises.

Eyewitnesses claimed she was killed by a stray bullet fired by the security agents to disperse the protesting agitators. The police in a statement released denied firing live ammunition at the rally.

Yoruba nation agitator, Sunday Igboho arrested in Cotonou

Yoruba Nation agitator, Sunday Adeyemo also known as Sunday Igboho has been arrested in Cotonou, Benin Republic.

Igboho who will be repatriated to Nigeria on Tuesday July 20 from the neighboring country, was arrested at an airport in Cotonou three weeks after the Department of State Services declared him wanted for allegedly stockpiling arms. It was further learnt that his destination was Germany.

A source privy to this told Sahara Reporters;

"Sunday Igboho has been arrested in Cotonou. He was arrested about an hour ago.

"He was supposed to travel to Germany through Cotonou this night. He wanted to leave Africa through Cotonou. He was arrested by security operatives in Cotonou.

"They are planning to bring him back to Nigeria."

Recall that the DSS raided Igboho’s Ibadan residence in Soka area on July 1, 2021, arrested about 12 of his aides and killed two of them in a gun duel.

Nigeria Immigration Service and the Nigeria Customs Service were subsequently placed on alert to stop Igboho from leaving the country.

"Take your grievance to God, not the media" Media personality, Morayo Brown criticizes alleged Winners Church pastor for bringing his sack letter to the media

TV host, Morayo Brown, has criticized the pastor who claimed he was sacked by Winners Church for taking the matter to the media.

Recall that a pastor granted an interview where he claimed that he and over 40 other pastors of the Living Faith Church, aka Winners Chapel, were sacked for not generating enough income in their branches (read here).

Responding, Morayo said she has been silent about most of the things happening in Nigeria over the past week but she can't keep silent about the pastor's action.

She added that any pastor who claims he was sacked by the church should take his grievance to God, not the media.

A frustrated Pastor speaks out after Oyedepo's church sacks over 40 pastors for making low incomes in their branches (video/photo)

A man who identified himself as a former pastor of the Living Faith Church International, popularly known as Winners Chapel, has claimed he and other pastors were sacked by the church for not generating enough money in their respective branches.

Peter Godwin said in a video that he was employed as a pastor on the 28th of August, 2020, but on July 1, 2021, he and over 40 other pastors were invited and given sack letters.

He said in the video: "Actually, by the special grace of God, our father in this great assembly, Living Faith Church received a mandate from the Lord to plant 10,000 churches in Nigeria and by the special grace of God, I was privileged to be one of the pastors that were employed on the 28th of August, 2020, that was last year.

"So after that, I started working, engaging myself in the work of the Lord. I tried my possible best to make sure I win souls for Christ but unfortunately, on the 1st of July, I received a call that the state pastor wants to see me, so I thought I was the only one. I was surprised, so I went to his office.

"When I got there, I saw other pastors too, over 40 of them, so I joined them. A few minutes later, we were issued a letter. I opened the content of the letter to see what was there and I saw that it was a sack letter.

"The content of the letter says 'Consequent upon the recent performance review which revealed that your church growth index falls below expectation. Please be informed that your service as the pastor in charge is no longer required in this commission with immediate effect. You are to vacate your official accommodation and hand over all properties including the official ID card to the area pastor before departure'.

"So I called the management the next day to know what happened since I wasn’t involved in any dubious activity or evil act. I was told by the management was that the church doesn’t operate at a loss, they also told me the total income that is being generated from my station should be able to cater for my welfare and accommodation, so as a result of low income, I’m hereby dismissed."

See a copy of the sack letter below.

Actress, Megan Fox says her 8-year-old son is being bullied for wearing dresses

Hollywood Actress, Megan Fox, has revealed that her 8-year-old son is being bullied by people who don't agree with his fashion style.

Fox, in an interview with InStyle, said that her eldest child, whom she shares with her ex-husband Brian Austin Green, has been criticized by "mean, awful and cruel people" both online and his school.

"I don't want him to ever have to read that s--- because he hears it from little kids at his own school who are like, 'Boys don't wear dresses.'"

It's not the first time Fox is talking about her son's clothing choices.

"Sometimes, he'll dress himself and he likes to wear dresses, sometimes," Fox said during appearance on 'The Talk' in 2019 .

"And I send him to a really liberal, hippy school, but even there here in California he still has little boys going, 'Boys don't wear dresses,' or 'Boys don't wear pink.'"

"So we're going through that now, where I'm trying to teach him to be confident no matter what anyone else says,"

Her former partner, Green has also defended his son in the past.

"I've heard from some people that they don't agree with him wearing dresses," Green said.

"To them I say, 'I don't care.'"

Man arrested in Sokoto over alleged blasphemous comment against Prophet Muhammad

The Sokoto State Police Command has arrested one Isma’ila Sani Isah for allegedly posting a blasphemous comment against the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) on his social media platform.

Sani was said to have made the alleged comment in protest of not getting a local government job. In the post, Isah accused one man in their area of denying him offer despite his financial problem.

The Sokoto State Government in a statement on Friday, July 9, condemned in strongest terms the blasphemy against the Prophet, adding that the suspect has been apprehended and investigations are ongoing.

The state Commissioner for Information, Hon. Isah Bajini Galadanci, who stated this while briefing newsmen on behalf of Gov. Aminu Waziri Tambuwal at Government House, Sokoto, said the suspect will be brought before a competent court of law upon completion of investigation.

He warned that henceforth the state government would not condone such acts against Prophet Muhammad (SAW) or any other prophet of God or His scriptures.

The commissioner added that already the government, in collaboration with the security agencies and other relevant authorities, are taking necessary steps to ensure that appropriate measures are taken against the offender, stating that already the suspect has been apprehended and investigations are ongoing, consequent upon which he will be brought before a competent court of law to face justice accordingly.

According to him, Gov. Tambuwal has cautioned against the politicization of the issue, saying that it is time for all citizens of the state to unite on matters such as this.

The governor commended the coalition of youths who inspite of partisan divides came together and approached relevant authorities, rather than taking the law into their hands.

Tambuwal, therefore urged people in the state to maintain peace and order as all necessary measures are on course to address the matter.

Meanwhile, some youths in Sokoto had on Thursday, stormed the palace of Sultan Muhammadu Sa’ad Abubakar and demanded the arrest of Sani.

The youths who were armed with placards, among which read “We are calling on the Sultanate Council to take the necessary measure against the perpetrator” and “Isma’il, must die” among others stormed the palace around 5pm.

They were, however, denied entry by armed policemen led by the Divisional Police Officer of Marina police station, Chief Superintendent M Y Maru.

Maru, while addressing them, pleaded for calm, saying the suspect was under detention at the Criminal Investigation Department of the state command.

"We have arrested the suspect. He is currently under detention at the CID office and i can lead your leaders to the headquarter to confirm,” he said

At the police headquarters, the deputy Commissioner of Police, Ibrahim Abdullahi, while receiving leaders of the youths assured them that the suspect would be arraigned before a Shari’ah court on Monday.

Meanwhile a Facebook user, Nafiu Romo also took to the platform to call for Isah's arrest

Former military Head of State, General Abdulsalami Abubakar (rtd) has said that insecurity has set education in the northern part of the country backward by 20 years.

The former Head of State said this while receiving officials of the Niger State chapter of the Campaign for Democracy and Human Rights led by its state chairman, Comrade Abdullahi Jabi at his Minna uphill residence in Niger State.

According to Abdulsalami, many children of school age can no longer go to school while those in schools are being kidnapped.

He said;

“Will they be happy if their children are kidnapped and traumatised?”

Abdulsalami also blamed the poor economic situation in the country on the effect of the COVID-19. He added;

He also recalled how he was locked outside the country for over nine months, resulting in most of his plans facing setbacks

Sunday Igboho Drags FG To Court, Asks DSS To Produce 12 Arrested Aides

Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho has taken the federal government and the Department of State Service to court.

Igboho dragged FG and DSS to the Federal High Court sitting in Abuja, begging the court to mandate and compel the DSS and its Director-General, to produce the 12 people arrested in Igboho’s house on July 2 and inquire into the circumstances constituting the grounds of their arrest and detention since that day.

The counsel, Chief Yomi Aliyu (SAN) in a Motion Exparte filed before the court pursuant to Section 32 (1) and (2) of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015 and Sections 6 (6) (b), 35 940 and 36 (5) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended and under the inherent jurisdiction of the court further asked that the court gives an order compelling the DSS to produce the 12 people in court and show cause why they cannot be granted bail in accordance with the provisions of Section 32 ACJA 2015 and other extant laws of Nigeria.

The motion delineated FHC/ABJ/CS/647/2021, further asked the court for any such orders it may deem fit in the circumstances.

The 12 people who are applicants in the motion are Abdullateef Ofeyagbe, Amoda Babatunde aka Lady K, Tajudeen Erinoye, Diekola Ademola, Abideen Sh*ttu, Jamiu Noah, Ayobami Donald, Adelabe Usman, Oluwapelumi Kunle, Raji Kazeem, Taiwo Opeyemi and Bamidele Sunday.

The ground upon which the motion filed against the Directorate of State Security Services was predicated includes the allegation that since their arrest and detention, efforts by their lawyers to gain access to them and offer legal representation as stipulated by the law has been frustrated by the State Security Service who had denied them access to lawyers and family members.

Also, Chief Aliyu (SAN) in the motion stated that despite the clear provisions of the law, which place responsibility on law enforcement agencies to charge suspects within 24 hours of arrest, the DSS has flagrantly disobeyed the provisions of the law and continued to keep the 12 people in detention without any charge proffered against them before a court of competent jurisdiction.

He stated further that the applicants are aware that they enjoy the constitutional protection of the presumption of innocence as well as a fair trial within a reasonable time under the applicable laws of Nigeria.

The motion was supported by an eight-paragraph affidavit deposed to by Binta Baldeh Geena, a female litigation secretary in the law firm of counsel to the applicants, a five-paragraph written address in support of the motion signed by Chief Aliyu and five other lawyers and an exhibit tagged Exhibit A, which is a letter from the counsel to the DSS to request for a visit to their clients which was certified to have been received on July 8.

Also attached to the motion was an 11-paragraph affidavit of Extreme Urgency and an affidavit of non-multiplicity of action, also deposed to by the same litigation secretary, Binta Baldeh Geena, on July 8, 2021.

No date has been fixed for the hearing of the motion Exparte.

Dunamis Church Should Hold Next Sunday Service At DSS Headquarters Over Detained Activists — Sowore

Omoyele Sowore, the Nigerian human rights activist, has stated that the Dunamis International Gospel Centre (Glory Dome), Abuja, ought to be worried and lead a protest against injustice over the illegal detention of five protesters arrested on the church premises by the Department of State Services officials if the church was indeed not involved in their arrest.

Sowore on Friday added that the Senior Pastor of the church, Dr Paul Enenche, ought to have instructed the over 50,000 church members to storm the DSS headquarters on Sunday and let them hold the church services there in protest over the five detained members.

The human rights activist stated these while addressing journalists at a press conference in Abuja on .

Sowore said, “We are here to inform all Nigerians that Nigeria is no longer a democratic nation. It has become a Banana republic being governed by iron fist. We have a despot in government and he is Muhammadu Buhari and they are making no pretence about it.

“It is very despicable that the church has colluded with the Nigerian state to hand over innocent protesters to the lawless state security service that styled itself as DSS. There is no entity known to the law as DSS.

“So, we have met with the pastors and I discovered that he (Pastor Enenche) was playing games with us. He lied and I am emphasing it. He lied that his church members were not involved, but we have ample evidence that they were involved. They physically brutalised these protesters.

“I have heard some ask whether they should have gone with this T-shirt, the question is; if they had gone to church with T-shirt such as 'I stand with Buhari' or 'Buhari must stay', would you beat them up?

“And I have also heard some people who are saying that; why don’t they go to mosque? I think this is also a way of demonising Islam to say that if you go to mosque and fight against oppression, the members must beat you up. I have seen a lot of Muslims fight against oppression. The Shiites are fighting against oppression; everyone in this country is tired of the Buhari regime. And they are at liberty to wear whatever they like to church or mosque.

“The church should be a refuge for the oppressed. The church should be worried that there are DSS operatives around them willing to pounce on innocent people for no reason. What I had expected the church to do is to issue a condemnation.

“It should not be we who are planning to protest at the church. The church should have relocated to DSS on Sunday and had its service there and let’s see if the DSS can withstand that kind of power. They have over 50,000 members. If I was Pastor Enenche and I am not feeling guilty of violation of rights, I will ask my church members to let us worship at the DSS headquarters. But they are not interested in that.”

SaharaReporters earlier today reported that the protesters had dragged the church and the DSS to court over the illegal, arrest, detention and violation of their human rights.

SaharaReporters had obtained the court papers filed by the activists, bearing their names; Ben Manasseh, Emmanuel Larry, Samuel Gabriel, Anene Victor Udoka, and Henry Nwodo as the applicants.

The respondents are; the State Security Service, the Director-General of the SSS, the Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, and the Pastor-in-charge of the Dunamis International Gospel Centre, Pastor Paul Enenche.

The suit is being heard at the Federal High Court of Nigeria; Abuja judicial division.
