In this short, we delve into the human psyche and explore the reasons behind our tendency to cling onto certain emotions.. As humans, our brains are wired to seek pleasure and avoid pain, which explains why we hold onto emotions that become ingrained in our identities. Letting go of these emotions feels like losing a source of pleasure, making it difficult for us to move forward.
Our operating system is designed to navigate between attraction and repulsion, constantly seeking movements either forward or backward. This innate mechanism influences our resistance to give up a sense of victimhood or the attention we receive from sharing our stories. We derive satisfaction from these experiences, be it positive or negative.
However, gaining self-awareness and understanding the motivations behind our attachment to certain narratives or identities is a crucial step towards releasing them. Reframing our perspectives, reappraising our emotional responses, and engaging in deep introspection are essential processes in our journey towards letting go of these emotions and progressing in life.
