“I don’t understand marketing.”
I hear this a lot when I tell people what I do. I usually respond with a light-hearted, “Yeah, it can seem overwhelming.”
But if I were speaking on a deeper level I’d say:“Of course you do. If you know your client, you understand marketing.”
Marketing is just the vehicle for telling the story of how deeply you understand your client’s problems and how you’re working to solve them.
Take the “you” out of it. Make it about them.
That shift takes the pressure off “knowing marketing” and puts the focus back where it belongs: knowing your client and showing up with a solution.
