Helloooo my frens!
I know I’d been MIA for the last couple of months, and there’s a decently good reason for that… I got ‘rona while climbing a big mountain, and let me tell you; being sick at 18,000 feet is no fun. It took a while to recover, but I’m back and more motivated than ever! I promise there are more episodes in the works, and I’m stoked about the direction things are going.

Hang in there *cue kitten hanging from branch* because there’s good stuff on the way.

Stay Wild!

If you’ve ever considered solo outdoor adventures, you’ve also probably also considered the dangers that might be lurking out there. In this episode of WOTW, I speak with Nicole Snell. Nicole is the CEO of Girls Fight Back, an organization that uses personal safety and self-defense as a way to empower women and girls in the outdoors. She’s a self-defense instructor and has found her passion in helping women gain confidence in the outdoors by teaching them self-defense tactics. Nicole has traveled the world as a speaker and self-defense teacher and enjoys solo adventures in the wild. In this episode, we chat about finding your voice, standing up for yourself, and listening to your intuition, as well as self-defense tactics you can implement now.

is an elite runner for The North Face, a bioengineer, and all-around amazing human.

And… I have to admit, she’s one of my personal heroes.

We chat about what it was like for her to become a professional athlete and the challenges that come along with it, including imposter syndrome. We also chat about women toeing the line at races, and her experience starting at the front of the pack at Transgrancanaria, among many other things.

This episode is full of race wisdom, quick tips, and excellent advice. Don’t miss this one!

Hey all you slaydies out there.
I know this account has been pretty quiet recently. Due to the nature of my self quarantine, I have limited access to the internet.
This means I'm having a hard time posting and I can't upload podcasts.
But in the grand scheme of things, that's really not a big deal.
Things are hard for all of us right now.
It's scary and we don't know what's going to happen.
But I want you to know that you are not alone.
You are loved.
And you have a massive support network of rad women.
So hang in there [insert kitten hanging from tree branch].
And let's not forget to reach out to reach other, check in, say hi, introduce yourself.
We can still connect and support one another.

I had the incredible opportunity to participate in an AIARE level 1 avalanche training course last week with a group of really amazing women.

Everyone quickly became friends. We laughed a lot. We learned even more.

It was a phenomenal experience that would not have been possible for many of us if it weren't for the Snowpack scholarship and the amazing instructors.

Thank you so much !
Check them out! They're doing amazing things!

💥NEW EPISODE ALERT💥

➡️Nutrition is an important part of your training and can help you reach your athletic goals, yet many of us overlook it. It’s easy to do with our busy lives. In this episode, Kylee and I talk about nutrition plans and training, fad diets, protein intake, sugar, supplements, what you can do about gut bombs and… ahem… the runner’s runs 💩

➡️Kylee Van Horn knows her stuff. Not only did she grow up as a competitive runner, but she decided to become a registered dietary nutritionist in order to give back to the running community that she loves so much. Kylee owns and operates Fly Nutrition, where she helps athletes optimize their training through nutrition. She currently works with athletes of all kinds, from through-hikers to ultra-runners and everything in between.

Episode two is out!

In this episode of Womxn Of The Wild, I chat with Renee Jacobs. Renee is a mother and wife who was trained in architecture and engineering, but left that behind to pursue full-time motherhood. In doing so, she has struggled to find the balance between being a full-time mom, finding an identity outside of her career, and doing the things she loves; adventuring in the mountains. We talk about finding balance, training, and her biggest accomplishment in the outdoors to date: the California 14ers.

You can now find Womxn Of The Wild on Google Podcasts and Apple Podcasts!

“Women are fed an overwhelming, fear-driven cultural narrative about the dangers of the world, and often rightly so. It’s made me recognize how the mere act of being a single woman on the road (or in the desert) is, in and of itself, a political act; People just aren’t used to seeing women traveling alone, camping alone, backpacking alone.”

In this collaborative article, 5 women share the joy and the challenges of solo female camping. “Are you really going

Hello and welcome to Womxn Of The Wild!

I’d like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and tell you why I’ve started this project.

My name is Ashly and I’m an adventure addict. I jumped headfirst into all things adventure after I extracted myself from an extremely toxic marriage in 2015. Since then, adventure has become my top priority.

In this process of learning and discovering, I have not only found myself, but I have come to know and follow a ton of badass adventure women whom I admire and who inspire me every day.

Over the last year, it has become a dream and a goal of mine to introduce more women to these sports, as well as to bring these badass ladies together so that we can learn from each other and support one another -- no matter what your outdoor passions may be.

Please join me on this journey!

Much love and stay wild!
