One of the Australian businesses that had suggested returning coal mining to Alberta’s Rocky Mountains has recently announced that it will instead develop a green hydrogen production on the site.

In the latest investor presentation, Montem Resources Ltd. stated that it is developing plans to convert its projected Tent Mountain coal mine in Alberta’s Crowsnest Pass area to a renewable energy facility.

The first hydrogen fuel cells appeared 182 years ago. However, using hydrogen as an energy source never took off.
Hydrogen can replace natural gas over time. It contains enough energy in its molecule to do so. This means that it can also help eliminate coal and crude oil from energy consumption.

Tokyo Japan will propose to the International Maritime Organization the target of making container ships and other vessels for international shipping emit effectively no greenhouse gas by 2050.

The ministry will introduce the new target jointly with its counterparts in the United States, Britain, and other countries at an IMO meeting next month, aiming to strike an agreement on it by summer 2023 along with an international treaty to tighten emission rules.

A German delegation has visited Foynes to assess its potential as a green energy hub.

German parliamentarian and innovation commissioner for green hydrogen Stefan Kaufmann said the visit was to discuss opportunities for co-operation and collaboration between Ireland and Germany in this area.

Green hydrogen is seen as having a key role to play in creating a decarbonized future, replacing natural gas, diesel and gasoline in ships, trucks, buses and cars.

🚗Hyundai Motor Group, the world’s fifth-largest automotive group, is speeding up the development of a variety of rescue vehicles that use hydrogen fuel cells and robotics to help save lives.

🇩🇪 Shell has opened a 10MW hydrogen electrolysis plant – believed to be Europe’s biggest – near Cologne, Germany, in the same week that Centrica revealed that it would like to convert its Rough natural gas storage facility for hydrogen by 2026.

The Shell plant is called ‘Refhyne’ and is based at the Wessling site of its Rheinland refinery. It is powered with 100% renewable electricity.

CANTON – The Stark Area Regional Transit Authority has partnered with a research operation to demonstrate new hydrogen fueling equipment.

SARTA is working with NICE America Research — the U.S.-based research and development arm of China Energy — to test a mobile submerged pump liquid hydrogen refuelling unit. The three-month demonstration is the first time the system has been used in real-world conditions.

✈️The plan, unveiled on Thursday the eleventh of February sets a pathway to reduce CO2 emissions from all flights within and departing from the EU by 45% by 2030, reaching net zero CO2 emissions by 2050.
