RENAISSANCE, the very revival of interests or a new awakening of interest, had characterized South Sudan rapid growth of poets, painters and artistes in their various orders. Though there were sparks dazzling before the Covid-19 era, the after period saw a huge flame of fires kindling in all suburbs of Juba and other principal towns of South Sudan. Today, we have handful of published poets and many others climbing their ladders to publication. Although the word initially referred to the cultural movement of the Antiquity, the term equably applies to our experience of the last three years also conversing the spheres of art, literature, exploration of religion, science and politics.
But arguably, the application of the term remains loose as what we call Renaissance above was in fact an awakening, it wasn’t a renewed interest but actually the very first birth of it. From that time to this very day, this social change has been carried to the far ends of the globe. From the West to East, this idea lives and is being refined in classes in every country. Soon or later, the term will be more suitably applied to our condition, but the progress made was one that will remain the foundation for any future social movements aiming to change any particular aspect of our country be it either in arts, literature, politics, science or religion.
The purpose of this writing is somehow aimed at explaining the slumber in which the Renaissance enters. It’s more often easy to mistake it for the demise. And we assure each one of you who had taken part in this activity in the past or presently to acknowledge that it lives in you and some day when the day shall come, you will take your place in the activity. But more importantly we are grateful for all of you wherever you’re. It’s our perfect wish that you chisel your minds to the purpose and acquire all the needed tools to employ when the duty shall call. Wish you a Happy New Year and Good Health.
