• One hundred and fifty companies from the SADC region are expected to participate at the event, comprising private sector players in the agro-processing, mineral beneficiation, pharmaceutical, financial, consumer and capital goods, women and youth, Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises and infrastructure sectors. The event recognises the importance of Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in driving growth and innovation in the region's manufacturing sector.
• President Mnangagwa is on record saying that the industrialisation week will provide a platform for stakeholders to share opportunities, ideas and experiences on driving industrialisation and economic transformation in the SADC region, through innovation.
• Specifically, this opportunity will allow Zimbabwe to showcase its significant progress under the Heritage Based Education 5.0 philosophy, which is driven by the country's innovation hubs and industrial parks, and aimed at modernizing and industrializing the nation.
• It also comes at a time when Government recently established the long-awaited National Venture Capital Company (NVCF), which will provide the requisite support to give impetus to the ongoing innovation and modernisation thrust. NVCF seeks to provide venture capital to early-stage businesses and start-ups with high growth potential. The NVCF was established as part of the Transitional Stabilisation Programme (TSP) and the broader vision of achieving an upper middle-income economy by 2030. The fund is open to innovative minds and start-ups across Zimbabwe.
• The event aims to promote innovation and unlock opportunities for sustainable economic growth and development in the SADC region. It also provides a platform for the private sector and policymakers to interact and engage in discussions.
