After 5 years living abroad in Germany and traveling all of Europe.... we moved to DALLAS! 🤠
This move has been such a whirlwind! We had ~ a months notice to get a new home across the world, ship our car to 🇺🇲, secure seats on a flight, schedule our HHG, move out of our Germany apt, etc.
Then add on the unexpected ~23 hr drive from Maryland 🚗 Texas because our 1st flight arrived late... yeah, it's been an adventure for sure 😂
We're so excited for Dallas/DFW area to be our new home for a little while because we're starting a whole new adventure 🐾
When we moved abroad to Europe, our goal was to visit EVERY single country in Europe with Jasper 🐕 via dog-friendly trains/busses/ferries/cruises and WE DID IT!!
We've always lived by the "grow where you're planted" philosophy - which leads us to our next big adventure - visiting all 50 states & as many National Parks as possible 🇺🇲🐾

A major bucket list item for us was learning to make pasta from scratch in Italy & what better place than Rome? 🇮🇹
We booked the Pasta and Spritz Class with @romewithchef in the heart of Rome, Italy - just steps from the famous Colosseum.
It still doesn't feel real that we just learned to make pasta in Italy. We had the best classmates and instructors - it was truly a once in a lifetime experience!

Polar Plunge in the Arctic Circle officially takes 🥇 as our top Lapland activity!
Boarding the massive 78-meter ship, we found ourselves plunging bow 🚢 first into the frozen Bothnian Sea. Gobsmacked, we watched as the boat sliced through ice that was +2ft thick.🤯
The craziest part was yet to come, however, as soon enough...we were WALKING on that frozen ice!🧊 That's right - smack dab in the middle of a Finnish 🇫🇮/ Swedish 🇸🇪 shared Sea, we strutted our stuff.🕺
You know us though, we can't just stop there... IT WAS TIME TO POLAR PLUNGE!❄️🏊
Jumping into glacial water may sound crazy, but with the 🧡 suits provided by the tour - we were snug as a bug in a rug.

Ever wanted to visit Europe's largest plain waterfall? 🇨🇭
Rhine Falls in Switzerland is truly a sight to behold!
In the warmer months, travelers can take a boat allllll the way to that central rock in the video & climb the slippery steps to the top! 🤯
Trip Tips:
🌊 If driving, park at the Laufen Castle lot (it's cheaper, has large spaces & the ticket booth is right in the parking lot).
🌊 Dogs are allowed almost everywhere - they can take the elevators, go hiking and even catch one of the waterfall boats with you! The only exception is the boat which stops at the central rock (as it is far too slippery and could cause the dog or owner to fall into the rushing water).
🌊 Taking the train? Catch the S9 direct to/from Zurich HB <> Rhine Falls. You can use an interrail pass for this!
🌊 Don't worry about what time of year you visit - we've been in the Winter & Summer, BOTH are great! Winter time there is a small Christmas Market & virtually no one there. Summer time you have the tour boats running & warm weather.
Need ideas of other activities in the area? Pair you visit with a trip to the nearby Konstanz or even visit Liechtenstein 🇱🇮

Taking the leap to become a solo female traveler was incredibly difficult for me ⬇️
Not only was I filled with fears for my safety, but I was also terrified of feeling alone.
I was afraid that people would judge me for eating solo 🧍♀️ at a restaurant.
I was afraid of being labeled the "lame" chick with no 🚫 friends at hostels.
I was afraid I couldn't do it - any of it - the navigation, the bunk bed dorms, the long flights... everything.🫣
But I came to realize - you'll never grow if you stay in your comfort zone.
I did all the things I was afraid of & you know what happened?
✅️ I discovered you're never truly alone when traveling. Whether I was making friends on a tour bus or chatting with a local at a hole in the wall restaurant, I was making meaningful connections that impacted me.
✅️ My confidence grew exponentially because I saw that I could do EVERYTHING that had frightened me.
✅️ I started teaching others how to make the leap too - how to do the things I too used to be weary of. Regardless if it was taking someone on their first hostel dorm stay or showing them how to navigate a paper map in the mountains, I helped in any way I could. Through that I made countless friendships & got to watch others blossom in life.
Reflecting back, if there's one piece of advice I could give anyone in the place I was years ago - afraid, feeling alone & anxiously awaiting adventure...

We recently drove from France to Scotland & England via @eurotunnel with our dog, Jasper 🐾
Driving the world's longest underwater tunnel WITH A DOG can sound pretty daunting, but it's easier than you think!
UK Dog Entry Requirements:
✅️ Microchipped
✅️ Rabies Vaccination (After microchip implantation)
✅️ EU Pet Passport or Health Certificate
✅️ Tapeworm treatment completed AT LEAST 24 hours before entry, but no more than 120 hours before entry.
Tips For Travel:
🚆 Add the dog to your Euro Tunnel booking in BOTH directions (roughly €30/dog each way).
🚆 During the day, there is usually a drive-through pet check-in available (this means your pup can stay stress free in the car).
🚆 There are gated dog exercise areas in both France & England (Located near the daytime pet reception).
🚆 Arrive early! Occasionally, the chunnel will fill up & your car will be pushed to the next departure time if you are not at the front of your loading line.
🚆 Restrooms are available on the train (No dog relief areas on board though).
🚆 Human travelers also need to complete their online health attestation & check for any documents that need to be submitted prior to travel.

Our road trip 🚗 has begun & first on our agenda is the famous Dunkerque!
(You may be more familiar with "Dunkirk" from movies/books - this is the English spelling)
Tips For Your Visit:
✅️ There are free energy efficient busses that stop around town.
✅️ The beach is dog-friendly & a short walk from the Operation Dynamo museum.
✅️ Most restaurants with an outdoor terrace allow dogs.
✅️ Parking is free almost everywhere (minus the covered parking areas which are also affordable).
✅️ Restaurants close around 2 p.m. & reopen around 7 p.m. (fast food options, like Subway, are still open though).
✅️ Easily book a day trip to various WWII monuments, artifacts, museums etc. (The city is a "home base" for many WWII centered tours).
✅️ Only a 40 minute drive from the Chunnel to England!

World's Longest Pedestrian Suspension Bridge in Austria (Tibetan Style) 🇦🇹
Jasper conquered the world's longest suspension bridge @highline179 🇦🇹
Not many large dogs can say they've marked this off their bucket list, but thanks to our rescue gear JASPER DID IT!
What You Need To Know:
🌲 The bridge is made of grates which are painful for dogs to walk on & for this reason, the ticket office only allows dogs that meet the following criteria:
🌲 Small dogs are allowed to cross the bridge if you carry them.
🌲 Large/Medium dogs either need appropriate footware or a fully secured carrying bag/harness to cross the bridge.
🌲 Dogs enter for free!
🌲 Your journey will begin with a short tram ride up the mountain. Once you disembark the tram, you can explore a castle before crossing the bridge.
🌲 Your can cross the bridge in both directions! Don't want to cross the bridge twice? There is also a hiking option for your return (hiking back is what we did).
🌲 The bridge sways A LOT. It was genuinely the scariest + longest suspension bridge I've ever been on. If you don't like heights, this may not be for you (Freaked out when you 1st get on? Trust me... just wait till the middle 🥲).

One of the coolest experiences we had while visiting the Netherlands was taking a private helicopter soaring above the Netherlands LARGEST tulip fields.
🚁 Price = €79 per person (flight maxes out at 3 people).
🚁 There is a maximum weight allowance for each passenger. If you are not comfortable sharing your weight, you should skip this excursion as each passenger's weight is required for calibration. Due to this same reason, you won't get to pick your seat on the flight (you'll be placed based on weight distribution).
🚁 Be ready to get CLOSE to some of the fields! I was giddy with excitement when our pilot zoomed over the flowers & soared to great heights again (The landing was SO much fun as we descended directly above the tulips).
🚁 The experience is much more than flowers! You'll see Holland's coastline, their famed wind turbines & make a few friends as well.
🚁 The ride is much smoother than being in a small plane (coming from your girl who has her Class D skydiving license & jumps from tiny planes quite often 😂).
🚁 Dogs are NOT allowed on the flight, but they can adventure in the tulip fields with you after or before!
As I said above, Noordoostpolder is home to Holland's LARGEST tulip fields.🌷 Is this going on your bucket list?

Dog Beach Near Netherlands Tulip Fields
The Netherlands is filled with Dog-friendly beaches ⬇️
While visiting the famous tulip fields, why not make a pit stop at the beach?
After tulip hunting during the day, every evening we took a 20 minute bike ride to stroll the beach at sunset. 🌅
🌊 Take a scenic (dog-friendly) hike through the dunes by walking "Kabouterpad Hollands Duin." This route is perfect for admiring the towering dunes upclose & offers a glimpse at various animals (leashes are required to protect your dog + wildlife).
🌊 Want to see deer that roam the dunes? Bike along "Het Langeveld." The best time for viewing is early morning or sunset! These are wild deer so they don't stay in one place (they do enjoy the grassy area by the main road though).
🌊 Grab a meal or cocktails at one of the many (dog-friendly) restaurants located at "Vrijstaat Nederzandt." This also has a huge play area for kids + a small shopping area.
🌊 All beaches have a sign out front labeling where dogs can roam on/off leash + what sections dogs are not allowed. Our favorite beaches were at: Noordwijk, Noordvoort, & Noordwijkerhout.
SAFETY TIPS:
🚨 Jellyfish wash up certain times of the year. There were a bunch when we visited last week, so watch your pup (we kept Jasper on a long line to keep him from stepping on any).
🚨 The dunes have fluffy caterpillars that are not safe to touch! Don't let your dog sniff in the bushes or they my get hurt or try to eat one.
🚨 Rabbits + Deer + Seals are in this area & are protected by law. Do not touch them or allow your dog to harass them (these areas usually require a leash for your dog).

Eiffel Tower View From Our Dog-Friendly Hotel In Paris
Paris is one of the most dog-friendly destinations in Europe!🐾 How can you navigate the city with a dog?
🥐 Most public transportation in Paris allows dogs! Our favorite & fastest way to get around is the Metro. Just make sure you have a muzzle for large dogs that cannot fit inside a carrier (not an option, it is required) & buy them a ticket!
🥐 Monuments generally allow dogs to walk around outside, but most indoor attractions do not allow dogs. Don't expect to climb the Eiffel Tower or Arc De Triumphe with your pup! They can, however, walk around the Louvre, Eiffel Tower etc.
🥐 Cafés love dogs... but most will ask them to be seated outside. Cafés in Paris squeeze everyone together (They are intimate & homey) so be sure your dog can tuck under a small table or sit in your lap. I won't lie, it is a tight squeeze for medium/large dogs. We usually ask for a corner seat so Jasper is not stood on.
🥐 Almost every mall we have visited in Paris welcomes dogs! Be mindful of what level the food court is on as dogs are usually not allowed there.
🥐 If you are struggling to find a dog-friendly hotel, we highly recommend @pullmantoureiffel for accommodations. It has the best view & top notch service.
