I can’t bring dead bodies to Parley to prove hunger, Hon. Emmanuel Jay Banda tells Speaker in Parliament

Jay Banda, the Independent legislator for Petauke told Speaker Nelly Mutti that he could not take dead bodies to Parliament as evidence of people who had died of hunger.

This was after Ms Mutti guided the Petauke MP that he should provide evidence that people had died in his constituency as a result of hunger.

PETA-UK CENTRAL MEMBER OF PARLIAMENT SETS A ONE WEEK ULTIMATUM FOR PETAUKE TOWN COUNCIL TO RELOCATE VENDORS

Yesterday on Petauke Pasme Radio station, the MP instructed the local authority to relocate the displaced street venders within a week to prevent any backtracking.

Furthermore, Hon Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda discussed various topics, that includes street venders who were displaced on Monday, shortages of mealie meal, CDF grants, and the developmental projects in his constituency. It was at this same program were he gave local authorities a week to relocate the displaced street venders to a suitable conducive location with good sanitation facilities, Only then will he approve their removal, failure to that, the local council should allow venders to return at there old respective trading spots, This follows after the local authority in the early hours of Monday removed the street venders by force from Katambalala market in Petauke.

The honourable additionally urged displaced venders to establish co-oparatives which will enable them to faciliting access to CDF funds, The honorable expressed readiness to cover the certificate fees for all the will be formed co-oparatives.

During the radio program also, Mr Banda revealed that from 2021 till to date, numerous projects have been undertaken in Petau-UK Central Constituency comprising of 29 1x2 Classroom class blocks, 26 health posts, 110 boreholes, maternity waiting area toilets, rehabilitations and the donation of 200 mattresses and 200 blankets at Petauke District Hospital, Some of these projects have been completed and some are still under Construction, He stated that these initiatives are founded by CDF funds and by goodwill lobbying.

Speaking at the same program the Honourable further encouraged, Petau-UK journalists not to shy away from reporting and bring attention to real issues affecting the local communities.

KAZALA TEAMS ENCOURAGED TO TAKE PART IN THIS YEAR'S PEDAFA TOURNAMENT AS CONSTRUCTION OF DAM AND CLINIC TO START SOON

Kazala teams have been encouraged to be participating in the PEDAFA which is the annual football tournament in petauke district
Speaking yesterday at the football tournament in Kazala ,Hon Emmanuel Jay Jay Banda who was the Guest of Honor said that he expect Kazala teams to participate in this year's PEDAFA as it is also part of his constituency

He further encouraged the female teams also to be active in sports and to be taking part in the tournaments like this one to keep them away from illicit behaviours

The PEDAFA tournament of this season costed a K25, 000 which saw the team on first position walking away with a K7000 cash, Awards include K5000 for the tournament officials - total = K30, 000

Nevertheless, the construction of the washed away dam will soon be under way in Kazala, Petauke district,
This was stated by Petauke Central Member of Parliament Hon Jay Jay Banda yesterday when officiated at the same football tournament in Kazala

Speaking at the same event Mr Banda added that the construction of a clinic is already on foundation level but further said that the contractor did not follow the collect procedure in choosing the collect site for the construction as the area headmen were not properly consulted, and he said that he will ask the local authority to redirected the same contractor to go back and consult the village headmen as to were the clinic is to be located, as soon as this is done the construction will kick start.

Former MPs to have lifetime diplomatic passports

PETAUKE independent member of parliament, Hon. Emmanuel Jay Banda has lobbied Parliament, through a private member's motion, if all former State office holders can be given permanent diplomatic passports in recognition of their service they rendered to the nation.

Banda moved the motion on Wednesday.

His motion was built on the strength that Vice-Presidents, ministers and member of parliaments are only recognised after they leave office, during their death’s during State funerals.

“We only recognise them with State funerals. Why can't we recognise and appreciate their contributions towards the development of the country while they are still alive as former State office bearers," Banda debatee.

"Mr speaker, what I'm saying is that we can recognise these people through permanent diplomatic passports that will earn them respect wherever they’ll travel to.

“I am aware that law automatically strips away some privileges to former state office holders upon the expirt of their term or appointment. In view of this, their diplomatic passports should be surrendered for incarceration. This is according to section 13 of the passport act number 28 of 2016."

Banda added that in the case of former State office holders, they are reduced to ordinary citizens as they begin to use ordinary passports.

The lawmaker Banda emphasised that respect and appreciation should be given to them as a way to appreciate their tremendous works and sacrifice they gave to the nation.

“These are people that left their homes and families to come here in Lusaka so that they can work and serve the people. They tirelessly did all this and sacrificed their lives so they could work for the people of Zambia. Giving them diplomatic passports will show that their works are appreciated and that will put respect on their name wherever they go. Respecting them should not end together with their term or appointment,” said Banda.

The youths were led by Mwika popularly known as Mandevu a UPND IPS and his secretary, they firstly called Mr Charles Banda on phone inviting him to follow them that they have a story they wanted him to record for them, when they saw that Mr banda didn't show up, because he denied following them but told them to follow him at the radio station if they wanted his services, they decided to confront him him at the premises of the radio station

The unruly cadres stormed the radio station, dragged Mr banda outside of the station and started harassing him by telling him to stop playing Honourable's music on the radio during the 'Kodi mwamva" a radio programme sponsored by the Petauke Mp Hon. Emmanuel Jay BandaHon. Emmanuel Jay Banda
