City of Eastman and DCSO TO FIRE 12 OFFICERS ON NOVEMBER 9TH IF ABRAMS WINS: DCSO and Eastman Police have put their officers on notice that they will be cutting staff by 12 officers should Stacey Abrams win the Gubernatorial race on November 8th. Abrams promised to defund the police if elected and all Georgia Law Enforcement agencies have adjusted their budgets accordingly should Abrams win.

Ga Power announces that local power outages in Dodge County are due to too much consumption. To combat this, there will be planned power outages starting tomorrow afternoon. The times will be from 3pm to 11 pm. People on the north side of town will experience outages Mon, Wed, and Fri. People on the south will have outages Tues, Thurs, and Sat. We will have our 1st annual parade and celebration Friday November 4th in the downtown area. Gov. Brian Kemp on Tuesday suggested that Georgia was ready to take in some Afghan refugees following the repressive Taliban regime’s swift takeover of the country, joining other bipartisan leaders who struck a similar tone following the collapse of the U.S.-backed government.

Per an agreement between The Department of Homeland Security and Governor Kemp, Dodge County is on the short list of potential places to house refugees until their asylum is approved. This will be a big boom for our economy and community!

Eastman City commissioners are meeting the week of October 4th to authorize street racing in Dodge County to give youth something fun to do. A designated spot for street racing will be voted on and the racing will be on Friday and Saturday nights. This will be a fun and safe activity for kids of all ages!
