The planets that revolve around the stars other than the sun are exoplanets. Astronomers have confirmed more than 4,000 exoplanets orbiting distant stars, with at least 1,000 more awaiting confirmation. But, they cannot be directly observed in the telescopes. Swipe "left" to know more.

Cherenkov Radiation is released when a charged particle travels through a dielectric medium such as water at a speed greater than the phase velocity. Flashes of blue lights are seen, signalling highly blueshifted radiation. Although the phenomena was predicted by Arnold Sommerfeld in 1904, and was also observed by Madam Curie in 1910,Cherenkov was the first one to investigate it and bagged the 1958 Nobel Prize in Physics.

Superconductors are materials which conduct electricity without any resistance. They do so, because below “critical temperature”, instead of existing as a single wave, electrons pair up and merge into a quantum wave, filling the whole material and hence becoming insensitive to atomic vibrations i.e no resistance. Generally, this critical temperature is below 1 K, but through optimization of pressure, substances used and other parameters, critical temperature was brought up to be 288 K. This could mean a step further into the futuristic world of limitless power and technological singularity.

“Sound waves travel through different mediums at different speeds. A study, published in the journal Science Advances, shows that predicting the upper limit of the same is possible and is dependent on two dimensionless fundamental constants: the fine structure constant, measure of the strength of the electromagnetic force that governs how electrically charged elementary particles, and the proton-to-electron mass ratio.
The scientists tested one specific prediction of their theory that the speed of sound should decrease with the mass of the atom which implies that the sound is the fastest in solid atomic hydrogen. However, hydrogen is an atomic solid at pressure comparable to those in the core of planets like Jupiter.Hence, researchers performed first principal computations to test this prediction and found that the speed of sound in solid atomic hydrogen is close to the theoretical fundamental limit which is 36 km/s,
around twice as fast as the speed of sound in diamond
