It's an area of wellness we often neglect as we tend to wait for a warranted illness to take action, rather than making it an imperative part of our wellness routine. We forget that mental health is, in fact, health.

Who do you see in your own reflection? What do you want to say to her?

What’s your love story? Which part in your love story did you begin to fall in love with yourself?

My love story began when I started to realise I am not my job. When I started setting boundaries and saying no. When I started listening to my body.

This Valentine’s Day, I’d like to rediscover the way we think about love. Why wait for someone to buy us dinner and roses when we are already given the gift to love?

From now until our Valentine’s Day event (details coming soon) on 11 February, I will be posting about my every day on IG story, starting with “Self love is_______.” There will be vulnerable moments and maybe tears, but I think we could all use some authenticity in this space.

I have an important announcement to make.

From 2022 onwards, Chika will no longer be a magazine.

As a journalist by trade, I’ve always taken pride in being an editor and storytelling as my forte.

But what I didn’t realise, is that the title of “magazine” has been limiting what Chika can truly be. I’m not gonna lie, part of me started Chika because I wanted to “change” the media scene and counteract certain practices that I don’t agree with in the industry (more on that in a different post).

But as Chika began to grow, my vision for Chika became clearer day by day. The vision of Chika is to create a safe and supportive space for women to thrive, connect and embody empowerment. How do we get there? Through high-level, immersive, transformative experiences that are curated for ambitious, self-loving women who are ready for more in life.

Does it mean there won’t be more any storytelling? Absolutely not. I am still very excited about spotlighting women who put themselves out there by telling their stories, but I am ready to take Chika to the next level.

I thank Chika every day for allowing me to meet like-minded women who inspire me to be better. 2021 was great but I’m kicking off 2022 with a bang.

Chika was launched in July 2021 with the vision to create a safe and empowering space for women to connect and thrive. We started off as a magazine, but we are so much more than that. From the Chika Fiesta, Wahiba Sands candle launch, Beauty & Beyond event to Awareness for Afghanistan, we are in awe of the women who have showed us compassion, empathy and openness.
