In the summer of 2015, I created an Instagram account to share daily updates and my blog content.

One of the things I focused for Instagram back then was aesthetics. It was the most important thing for me to have a great looking instagram.

🎨🖌I would use a combination of set presets in and to edit my photos till the feed looked "perfect"

But in 2024, this is not a practice I ask brands I work with to follow.

✨️Simply because a lot of brands find it harder to keep up with changing trends and content formats. Content quality, relevance, and engagement are more crucial factors in finding Instagram success.

That being said, it's important to remember that aesthetics alone is not enough to guarantee success, but they can certainly complement a well-rounded content strategy.

Here are a few benefits of having an aesthetic feed as suggested by Meta AI🤖, I am posting it just as it replied:

Do viral reels help in sales? 💰

Last week I shared this insight on a viral reel that is now grossing at 42k views along with product sales for our client.

When this started picking up since last week, we saw the surge in traffic, followers and interactions in the account.

With over 42K views and 109 new followers gained, the client was able to make a sales of 10 units of the product 😮

For more disclosure, this client's Instagram account already generates organic sales as we have built up a very engaged community. However, on a day to day basis the per product enquiries across Instagram are typically 2-3.

The viral reel helped to increase per product enquiries to about 10-15 of the particular product and hence more sales on it!💰

After this viral reel, another reel of a different product was pretty popular too and generated another set of enquiries and sales for the product.

Having said this, I would like to add that we didn't intentionally create a viral reel, and perhaps even if we were to repeat the same process, it might not generate the same results.

One of the things we did notice with both the pieces of content - our was clear. So it made it easy for customers to take action🎬.

This weekend was a reminder that you can find peace even amidst chaos…

Finding a community of friends who love reading as much as I do actually helps to reinforce it. Thank you for the initiative of bringing people together to read❤️✨

I had almost forgotten how wonderful it was to “read for pleasure”. Despite working with authors and bookstores, I struggled to read in 2021 and 2022. I made changes to make more time for reading and finished about 13 books in 2023. Stop losing customers to confusing messaging ❌

I have done it before, but I have learnt better now.

I get it - the struggle to educate & entertain. Which is why mastering clarity in content is so key!

Things you should remember - Snappy writing gets comments. Clear language gets clicks. But above all always keep it simple and concise.

Do you pay attention to customer feedback? Or are they falling on deaf ears?

Do you check your Google reviews, Instagram comments, WhatsApp messages to understand customer feedback or are you blocking, deleting, ghosting and ignoring your customers?

I see negative feedback getting swept under the rug or being ignored everyday. Your customer may not always be right but they need to be listened and responded to.

Yet so many businesses just do it wrong.

This week, a client of mine had a customer visit their store to pick up some products. While my client was absent, she kept pinging us on Instagram to say how bad everything was and she couldn't find the products she was looking for. My client reached out to her and helped her find the products she was looking for all through a 20 minute phone call. After she left, the customer sent us a message saying that she loved the products and everyone was so helpful.

It only took a phone call to get her to change her mind about the business!

All I want to say with this example is that a bad review once necessarily doesn't mean that the customer can't come back again. Your response to the review and action could well help your business.

Happy New Year folks!

New Year’s Day never really excites me except for the fact that it’s a holiday.

But this year feels different…

It motivated me to document some of the first things I did today morning including walking Moon (not documented here) to making myself a wonderful cup of wake-me-up coffee. I am about to spend all day today with this book by Hwang Bo-Reum because this is a book that is meant to be savoured, kind of like your favourite dessert.

I haven’t set yearly resolutions since the last 4 years🤯

I simply stopped🚫 when I realised that I never really cared about them much after I wrote them down. Honestly, you don’t suddenly reset everything and become a whole new person just because the number on the calendar changes🗓️

Habit building is an everyday process.

This is why I made a switch. I gave up on setting yearly resolutions and started to work on short term S.M.A.R.T goals🥅

As a social media marketer, I've found that setting smaller, specific short-term goals keeps me focused and motivated all year long. No waiting until January 1st! ⏰

I am no longer putting things up for later that typically used to happen when I had yearly goals. Because when life would get in the way, you would excuse yourself from the task. When you have short term goals for yourself, you give yourself the push to finish them within the stipulated time.🎯

In 2023, I ticked off almost all of my short term goals that led me to being booked out till February 2024☺️

Happiness and laughter aren’t the only emotions that will help your brand connect with the audience.

For example, If your brand voice is more formal, and you still post funny content on social media, how do you think your audience will react? - not too positively because they fail to connect the content with your brand.

While humour can be a great tool to engage your audience, there are also several other emotions brands can evoke with their content:

✨Feeling of belonging
✨Sense of freedom
✨Feelings of calmness
✨Inspiring creativity
✨Sense of security

Maybe it’s just me….

But somedays Instagram looks just like an old record player where each person plays the same tune, edits in similar styles and says almost the same things. And you are left to wonder when did we all start looking like each other?

I don’t know exactly when that happened, but 2023 has been mostly that. And honestly, it’s a tad bit boring.

No wonder more and more people feel the fatigue that Instagram creates for their business. It’s not fun anymore, and I can’t disagree.

The real reason this is happening is because we are too busy checking out what everyone else is doing. We don’t focus enough on creating how we would like to be represented but we create based on trends. And that is how we lose our authenticity and our interest in the process.

Unsuspecting sources of marketing lessons mixed in with witty storytelling - kept me up quite late into the night.

I even got inspired to start a blog which is well half way there but not quite yet. (Coming later this week)

Read more and write more is the philosophy I am abiding by. And I am putting this in my list of recommended reading for marketers, copywriters and authors and all readers who read for pleasure.

The post-Diwali work fever is real!

I am feeling it in my bones today.

That feeling that all your long weekends and holidays for the year is done and you gotta snap back to work. Well it’s not always the nicest feeling right after you’ve been in the celebratory mood, but we shall get there.

Anyways for me, I am tricking my mind by doing an audit of the social media accounts, creating new strategy incorporating a bunch of changes to focus on growth for 2024. And these are my 5 tips for you in case your brand’s social media needed a boost too!

Reevaluate and Reassess your social media channels and note the things you can change today that will help you crush the rest of the year!
