Story of Lake Saif-ul-Malook.

Lake Saif-ul-Malook is named after a legendary prince from a fairy tale, which was converted into a poem by famed Sufi poet Mian Muhammad Bakhsh.

Saif-ul-Malook was a prince of Egypt. He had a handsome amount of treasure which he inherited from his forefathers. Inscribed on the treasure were two seals; one bearing the image of Said and the other one being that of Badi-ul-Jamal.

When Saif saw the picture of the fairy he immediately fell in love with her. He then left his home to search for her, a journey that took six years to complete.

One day a saint met Saif in a street of Egypt and gave him a Sulemani cap, telling him that it will take the prince to his desired place.

The saint told the prince that he would find the fairy in a lake but he had to pass several daunting exams and also pray in order to achieve her, as she was a fairy queen and prince was human. A human eye can never see a demon or fairy as they are “fire borne”.

Saif reached the place and started a Chilla (pray for 40 consecutive days). Day by day his health get worst but he didn’t give up and prayed.

After praying for 40 consecutive days without food and rest he became exhausted and weak. It was the 14th night of that month and he thought, “Maybe tonight I’ll see her.” Then suddenly he saw the fairy queen coming along with her maids towards the lake.

After talking to Badi-ul-Jamal, Saif came to know that she was trapped in a castle at Koh Qaf by Safaid Deyo (white giant) for the past 10 years. The white giant was also in love with the fairy.

After listening to the story of the fairy queen, Saif took her and tried to escape from this valley. When the white giant came to know of this he created turbulences out of anger in this lake, as a result of which flood came in Kaghan Valley.

They (the fairy and the prince) hid in a cemetery a few miles away from Naran, but due to the flood, Saif and Badi-ul-Jamal took shelter in a cave near the lake.

Legend has it that the Ansoo Lake in Kaghan Valley, a few miles away from Saif-ul-Malook, was created out of the tears of the white giant when he found out that the fairy was gone.

According to the classic fable, the prince and the fairy queen still live, to this day, in that cave and dance above the water surface on the 14th night of every lunar month.

Fairy Meadows with Nanga Parbat in the background.

Known as “Joot” among locals, the place was given the name Märchenwiese (literally “Fairy Tale Meadows”) by a group of German mountaineers who were astounded when they first glimpsed this idyllic landscape.

At 3,300 meters (10,826 feet) above sea level, the wide grassy meadow surrounded by dense alpine forest is fed by waters from a glacier formed by the Nanga Parbat

Nanga Parbat aka Killer Mountain (the ninth-highest mountain in the world and second-highest in Pakistan after K2) towers over Fairy Meadows from the south.

An aerial view of Attabad Lake.

Also known as Gojal Lake, Attabad Lake is located in Hunza, Gilgit Baltistan at a distance of around 600 km from Islamabad.

This beautiful lake was formed due to a disastrous landslide that occurred in Atabad village on 4th Jan 2010. More than 20 people were killed in this landslide and the Hunza River remained choked for the next 5 months.

The resultant floods inundated more than 19 km (12 miles) of the Karakoram Highway and caused the displacement of more than 6000 people, who had to immediately leave their homes. At least 25000 people remained trapped for several months.

At around 21 km (13 miles) long and 100 m (330 feet) deep, Atabad Lake is way bigger than it seems in pictures and a must-visit spot.

The year was 1942. The Quit India Movement was at its peak.

Amid the various protests going on around the sub-continent, a police constable was killed and his body was hung from a tree while being wrapped in the British flag in a village in Bhagalpur, Bihar.

The Britishers were furious. To punish the action of the angry mob and to set an example, they decided to burn the entire village where the incident had happened.

Their plan was, however, thwarted by a daring Assistant Commissioner, who had been in Indian Civil Service for just 10 months.

The young officer chose to throw away his bright and promising career and revolt against his commanding officers.

In an unprecedented act of courage, the young AC decided to arrest an SP, a DIG, and a Collector (Deputy Commissioner) to prevent the tragedy, even if it meant "treason" for him.

That young Assistant Commissioner was Qudrat Ullah Shahab - the greatest bureaucrat this country has ever had.

Rohtas Fort was once the largest military base in South Asia.

It was constructed by Sher Shah Suri to prevent the ousted Mughal Emperor Humayan from returning to his former empire.

The name of the fort comes from Sher Shah Suri's conquest of a Hindu prince's stronghold at Rotasgarh.

Ironically, the fort was never utilized for the purpose it was constructed.

The United Nations Education, Scientific, and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) designated Rohtas as a world heritage site in 1997.

When it came to wit and humor, there was no one that could surpass Jinnah! Even the most eloquent of persons felt insecure in his presence!

Here are 6 instances from his life that prove how witty Quaid-e-Azam was.

#1

In December 1940, during a trip to London, Quaid-i-Azam made a public address, revealing how Congress betrayed the trust of the Muslims.

At this, a journalist asked: “Mr. Jinnah, you were also in the Congress once.” He quickly replied: “My dear friend, at one time, I was in a primary school as well!”

#2

Once an Aligarh student imitated Jinnah in front of him by putting on his monocle and addressing an imaginary audience. His voice, words, gestures, and even the look on his face matched that of Jinnah.

While some of his opponents who were present there relished at the thought of him getting embarrassed, Jinnah surprised everyone by his reply!

When the performance was finished, Jinnah took off his own cap and monocle and presented it to the student, saying: “Now this will make it absolutely authentic.”

#3

Once arguing an appeal before the full bench of Bombay High Court, the clock was about to hit 5 pm, the closing time of the court.

The judges insisted that the case be finished on the same day, so a senior judge asked him: “Mr. Jinnah, could you continue for a few minutes longer today and finish your address?”

Normally, when a High Court judge says so, no lawyer could dare to decline. But Jinnah was no ordinary lawyer.

“My Lord, I would love to do so, but I have a very important appointment which I can just make in time if I leave the court at once.”

The judge replied: “That is all right, Mr. Jinnah. We also have an appointment, but we like to finish this today so that judgment can be delivered on Monday.”

Shooting like a gun, Jinnah replied: “My Lords, the difference between your Lordships and myself is that (raising his voice) I keep my appointments.”

All three English judges went red in their face but had nothing to say!

Dr. Sarah Qureshi is a Mechanical Engineer from NUST.

She made headlines for designing an eco-friendly aircraft engine that doesn’t only aids in global warming mitigation but also helps produce artificial rain.

The machine she created includes a one-of-a-kind pressure-dependent condensation mechanism that will allow the water vapors in the plane’s exhaust to be cooled and to be converted into water. If wanted, this water could be dumped like rain.

Dr. Sarah Qureshi is the CEO and co-founder of Aero Engine Craft Private Limited, Pakistan’s first commercial engine and aircraft research and development firm focused on developing environmentally friendly contrail-free aircraft engines for the worldwide aviation industry.

The Lahore Fort, also known as Shahi Qila, is a time capsule that covers centuries.

It has been built, destroyed, dismantled, rebuilt, and renovated numerous times until being given its final shape by Emperor Akbar in 1566 (when he declared Lahore his capital).

Located in the northwest corner of the walled city, the fort measures around 427 meters east-west and 335 meters north-south, omitting the defensive wall constructed later during Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s Sikh rule (1799–1839 A.D.).

In 1981, UNESCO designated Lahore Fort as a World Heritage Site.

Many notable Western thinkers and writers who have studied the life of the Holy Prophet (SAW) have expressed their admiration and respect for him (SAW).

American best-selling author Michael H. Hart famously acknowledged that the Holy Prophet (SAW) was the most influential person ever in his ranking of "100 Most Influential Persons in History."

When he was criticized for giving Prophet Muhammad (SAW) the first rank in his book, Hart silenced the critics by justifying his ranking and arguing that he (SAW) was "the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels."

Renowned author George Bernard Shaw was also deeply inspired by Holy Prophet (SAW) and used to call him (SAW) "the Savior of Humanity."

May Allah help us follow our beloved Prophet (SAW) in letter and spirit - and become his (SAW) true Ummati.

Hunza people are among the world’s healthiest and happiest people, with an average life expectancy as high as 120 years.

There are many factors that contribute to the longevity of their life, but the bulk of the research indicates that it’s due to Hunza water.

Water from the glacial streams of the Himalayan Mountains contains a lot of minerals including calcium, iron, potassium, and other useful nutrients.

Hunza people are also cancer-free due to their high consumption of Vitamin B-17, also known as amygdalin, which can be found in apricot seeds.

Their diet also consists primarily of raw fruits and vegetables, with a small amount of meat.

11/10/2021

Prime Minister Imran Khan on Sunday announced that he will be setting up a multi-purpose Rehmatullil Aalamin Authority (RAA) with the main aim “to explain Islam to the world.”

The RAA would also be responsible for propagation of the teachings of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) among the children and youth of the country.

The prime minister said they had started search for a competent scholar to head the authority which would comprise top professional Muslim scholars from across the world.

The RAA, he said, would monitor the effectiveness of Seeratun Nabi material, which was recently added to the schools’ curriculum.

It will also forward recommendations and add teachings of other religions that preach humanity and inclusivity so that “non-Muslims can also get acquainted with the true spirit of their respective religions”, he added.

The RAA will encourage and facilitate research at universities on the ‘Golden Age of Islam’ and the various aspects surrounding the leadership and highest moral standings of the Islamic leaders at the time.

The RAA members will also monitor main and social media in order to provide alternative content ideas and programming, especially for kids and youth, besides projecting a positive and true image of Islam to outside the world.

Khan blamed Hollywood and Bollywood for the spread of obscenity in society and regretted that there was no role of scholars in the country to tell the youth about the negative impacts and consequences of these evils.

He said a cartoon series would be launched to create awareness among children regarding the national ethos and culture.
