South Sudanese promoter Kay Two whose real name is Koryom Awet Alor survives assassination attempt, according to the statement posted on his official page, he says he was shot last evening around 6 PM at his house, beloved is what he posted 👇🏿

"I was shot at 6 pm today in my house outside my gate.
I am grateful to Almighty God for keeping me alive".

The motive behind this assassination attempt remains unknown and no suspects have been identify so far.

At least four (4) people got injured in clashes between civilians and police officers over evictions at Kuom, Aweil

A man identified as Malong Akot Akot, Dut Arol, and others are reportedly injured at Kuom and currently hospitalized, following the clashes between civilians and the police over eviction Friday morning.

According to one of the residents who eye-witnessed the incident, the clash occurred as a result of eviction attempted by the police officers whom he said "were sent by Lual Buola to evict civilians from the land which was given to them by Aleu Makur, a former commissioner of Aweil South County."

He said the case of land was dismissed in the court in Aweil and was referred to Juba since it became more complicated between the chiefs in the area and Lual Buola whom he stated "claims the ownership of the land"

He added a lot of civilians, including himself, who were beaten and left with injuries while some were arrested.

Meanwhile, the police released a statement that they were implementing a "court order to evict [civilians from] the disputed area between the complainant and the citizens at Kuom..."
However, the police didn't mention the name of the complainant as civilians claimed to be Lual Buola.

"Dear Public,
You might've seen a shocking video live from a person called Dut Arol, of which some citizens from the Kuom residential area have clashed with the police... leaving some injuries on both sides.

The police however implementing
Court ordered to evict the disputed area between the complainant and the citizens at Kuom residential area.
The documents are attached," the police statement partly reads on their official page.

Former Tanzanian president Ali Hassan Mwinyi dies at 98

Former Tanzanian President Ali Hassan Mwinyi has died aged 98, President Samia Suluhu has revealed.

Mwinyi, who served as Tanzania's second president between 1985 and 1995, was hospitalised in early February with his family stating that he was receiving treatment for a chest illness.

“With advice from his doctors, the family has decided that it is good that he gets privacy while receiving treatment. The family asks the public to pray for him,” said family spokesperson and son of the former leader Abdullah Mwinyi then.

Mwinyi joined Afro Shiraz Party (ASP) in 1964 and held different positions for the Government of Zanzibar and United Republic of Tanzania such as Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Education of Zanzibar in 1963.

In 1970 he was appointed Minister of State in the President’s Office of the United Republic of Tanzania and between 1982-83 he was Minister of Health, Home Affairs, Natural Resources and Ambassador of the United Republic of Tanzania in Egypt from 1977 to 1982

In 1983 he was appointed Minister of State in Vice President’s Office and in 1984 he was elected the President of Zanzibar and Vice President of the United Republic of Tanzania.

Overall contribution

The total amount contributed both pledge and cash were over 68 million SSP and 12,350 USD only.
So far, 2.3 million SSP and 800 USD have been paid.
The contributions were meant to buy and build the land plots for the Aweil Students at various universities and institutes of learning in city.
The donations were announced during the fundraising event conducted last Sunday at Hall.
The initiative was from the leadership of Aweil students Association, university of Juba.

Businessman Reunites with Former Colleague Now Suffering from Mental Illness

Businessman Wol Dut Anguei recently met with his longtime colleague, Kiir Yor Lual, from Aweil East (Madhol Yor) of the Pachierneth Clan. The two men had lived together as soldiers in Bor town in 2009. However, Lual has since become mentally ill.

Wol Dut Anguei took his friend Kiir Yor to the Church of Prophet Ayual in an attempt to get him healed. He also requested prayers from the congregation and public. Wol Dut has also promised to take Kiir Yor to the hospital for further treatment.

Wol Dut Anguei commitment to helping his former colleague is a reminder of the importance of community support for those struggling with mental health issues. It is hoped that Kiir Yor Lual will receive the treatment he needs and be able to live a full and productive life.

The notification also asks said chairpersons to observe gender equity.

President Kiir presides over passing-out ceremony for police cadets

Juba, Thursday (February 29, 2024) — The President of the Republic of South Sudan and the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, H.E. Gen. Salva Kiir Mayardit, on Thursday presided over the inauguration of the 22nd and 23rd batches of the South Sudan National Police Service at Dr. John Garang Mausoleum.

In his speech, President Kiir urged the 870 cadets to protect civilians and property.

"There must be a strong and positive relationship between the police and the civil population; the police must provide security for the civilians and protect their property,” Kiir emphasized.

The President further called upon all South Sudanese to join hands in collaborative efforts to build a peaceful and progressive nation.

For her part, Interior Minister Angelina Teny underscored the importance of upholding safety and security for all citizens as enshrined in the constitution.

Meanwhile, the Inspector General of Police, Gen. Atem Marol Biar, urged the cadets to join hands with the leadership of the police service to work together as agents of change.

Couple Bitten by Snake in Private Parts While Sleeping

A husband and wife from Makol Cuei Boma of Bor County are receiving treatment at Bor State Hospital after being bitten by a venomous snake in their mosquito net while sleeping in neighboring Lakes State Awerial County on Saturday night.

According to reports, the couple was sleeping in their home when the snake entered their mosquito net and bit them both in their private parts. The victims were rushed to Bor Civil hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment.

The type of snake that bit the couple has not been identified, but venomous snake bites can be extremely dangerous and even life-threatening.

The couple is said to be in stable condition, but they are still undergoing treatment. The hospital staff is monitoring their condition closely and providing them with the necessary medical care.

Prophet Peter AD Transports over 550 Orphans and Street Children to Juba for Education

Prophet Peter AD, the founder of Stone International Church, has undertaken a remarkable humanitarian effort by transporting 550 orphans and street children from Aweil to Juba to provide them with access to education.

The children, who were previously living in vulnerable and disadvantaged circumstances, will now have the opportunity to attend school and pursue their dreams. They will be accommodated at Peter AD's Stone International Church and enrolled in local schools.

Statement from Peter AD’s church reads:

“Beloved people of God, the idea behind the coming of these children that are being welcomed by the Stone International Church tonight came to prophet Peter AD when he visited Northern Bahr el Ghazal State (Aweil) to lay his beloved mother, Mama Tom Athieng Ayom, to rest. During prophet Peter AD's stay in Aweil, many children expressed their interest to come with him to go to school in Juba. Consequently, the government on behalf of the hundreds of children and their parents approached prophet Peter AD about the opportunity to bring the children to his school in Juba. As is to be expected, prophet Peter AD agreed. Now what you saw tonight is the handover of the children by the representatives of the government of Northern Bahr el Ghazal to prophet Peter AD. Glory be to God!”.
