Gay Sydney News can exclusively reveal P**F DOOF Sydney’s new Saturday night venue will be Kinselas.

The Darlinghurst bar and club, at Taylor Square, recently signed a contract with P**f Doof to take over hosting rights from Justin Hemmes’ Sydney CBD venue ivy.

Four people connected to P**f Doof, who requested anonymity as they are not authorised to speak publicly, confirmed the new venue to Gay Sydney News.

P**f Doof founder Anthony “Hockers” Hocking was approached for comment on Monday via Instagram and LinkedIn but did not respond in time for publication.

It remains unclear when P**f Doof will move to its new venue or which of Kinselas’ three storeys it will occupy on Saturday nights, although two industry sources speculated it could open in February or March and that it was most likely to have access to the middle and top floors.

On December 9, P**f Doof announced it was moving to Sydney’s Oxford Street after “3 glorious years at Ivy”. Those same years coincided with the COVID-19 pandemic, meaning that for most of P**f Doof’s time at the Ivy it was forced to close by the NSW government.

“Details about our new venue will be announced very soon,” the December 9 P**f Doof post said.

P**f Doof’s last regular Saturday night event at the Ivy was New Year’s Eve. However, it said it would still host its February and March World Pride events at the Sydney CBD venue, for which tickets have already been sold.

In recent months, P**f Doof closed the top-floor pop room at the Ivy. Sources told Gay Sydney News this is because fewer people have been going since it re-opened after the last COVID lockdown.

The sources say in its prime, P**f Doof Sydney attracted upwards of 5000 people a night, but that as few as 1000 have been going in weeks when it doesn’t have star power to draw a crowd. Singer Ricki-Lee and rapper Azealia Banks were two of its most recent performers that attracted a substantial audience.
