We're having a live event! Whether you are a short story writer or a memoir writer, the basics of a story are the same. Join us on our upcoming online event GDL Storytelling Basics. We'll talk about the process of writing, POV, GMCR (goal, motivation, conflict and resolution). You'll meet a couple of the editors and have an opportunity to ask questions.

November is a month to celebrate writing. If you work well or better when you set a goal, then this is your month. Sign up for National Novel Writing Month. NaNoWriMo, as it is known, is for those who want to attempt a 50K word challenge. You do not have to be a novelist. You can write whatever you set as your goal. It is all about you as a writer with the added support of a group of writers. You'll find local writers, online groups, write-ins and a plethora of support to keep you going. As you progress, you get badges, shout-outs, and cheers from fellow writers. And it's okay if you don't make it the whole way. The New Year starts with lofty goals and resolutions that we seldom keep. In the back of my mind, will finish revising my novel in one month, find an agent, get my book published, write ten new short stories, and get at least five of them published. In reality, I will be happy if I can remember which folder I put the story in and what I called it.
