WATCH: National Assembly Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf is administered oaths to the newly elected representatives of the 16th National Assembly of Pakistan.

Prior to the oath-taking, pro-PTI slogans of ‘Ayi Ayi PTI’ were chanted in the NA.

The speaker then urged the MNAs-elect to take their seats, emphasising that they first “needed to become members” of the lower house.

PTI founder Imran Khan said that he has written a letter to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) which must have been delivered today.

Talking informally to journalists in the court room in Adiala Jail, Rawalpindi, former Prime Minister Imran Khan stated that if the country gets a loan in such a situation, who will repay the loan, it will increase poverty in Pakistan.

Founder PTI added that unless there is investment, debt will increase, first of all political stability should be brought in the country.

The PTI has picked Mian Aslam as the party’s candidate for the slot of Punjab chief minister, Barrister Gohar Khan has said.

At a press conference outside Adiala Jail, he said: “Our candidate for chief minister in Balochistan is Salaar sahib. In KP, Aqibullah Khan’s name has been selected for the speaker of the KP Assembly.”

Gohar added that the names of candidates for the National Assembly speaker and deputy speaker would be announced soon.

🟢Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Thursday named its Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan as the party nominee for the post of the country’s prime minister (PM).

The announcement was made by Asad Qaisar while talking to reporters outside Adiala Jail after meeting PTI founder Imran Khan.

He said it has been decided that Omar Ayub will be PTI candidate for PM. While Aqibullah, brother of Asad Qaisar, will be PTI nominated speaker KP assembly.

🔴Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has announced that his party-elect MNAs will sit on opposition benches in the next government, expected to be formed by PML-N with a coalition of five other parties.

Addressing a press conference, the JUI-F has also invited the PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif to sit in the opposition with him.

He also expressed serious concerns over the elections, rejecting the February 8 polls.

“Some parties were given entire assemblies in return for money,” Fazl claimed.

‼️Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Secretary General Omar Ayub Khan, who has been in hiding following May 9 riots, said that his party will achieve the majority required to form government in the centre in the next 48 hours.

"PTI is the single largest party in Pakistan and we will prove our majorities in the next 48 hours. We are going to form governments in federal, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Punjab," he claimed while talking to a private news channel on Tuesday night.

"How would you form a government with 93 seats in the National Assembly as the requirement is 134?" the journalist asked.

"We will recover our stolen seats, just wait and watch," the former federal minister replied.

🟢On Tuesday, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) announced its decision to nominate Shehbaz Sharif as the candidate for prime minister.

Reports indicate that Maryam Nawaz, the PML-N Chief Organiser, is expected to be the party’s candidate for the position of Punjab chief minister. The final confirmation of the prime ministerial candidate will be made in collaboration with allied parties, and the nominations of Shehbaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz received approval from Nawaz Sharif.

Earlier, PML-N President Shehbaz Sharif expressed gratitude to former President Asif Ali Zardari and Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari for their support to the party.

In a statement shared on social media, the former prime minister acknowledged his telephone conversation with Zardari and Bhutto-Zardari, conveying thanks on behalf of PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif for their endorsement. Shehbaz Sharif expressed hope for addressing the political and economic challenges collectively as a nation.

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) chairman Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari said that his party has decided not to form a coalition government with Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N).

"[...] We are not in a position to form federal government ourselves, nor are we interested in taking ministries in such a setup. We also don’t want to see political chaos in the country. We don’t want to perpetual crisis in the country," the former foreign minister said while addressing a presser in Islamabad.

The PPP chairman announced his support for PML-N's premier candidate, saying "We will ensure that the government will be formed and political stability will be restored in the country.

Former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that if independent candidates supported by Tehreek-e-Insaf can show their majority to form the government, then Muslim League-N is ready to sit in the opposition.

During the press conference in Lahore, he said that the results have come, now is the next step. If independent candidates can form a government in the parliament, then do so with great enthusiasm.

The constitution requires that whoever has the higher number shall have a vote. If the independent candidates can show their majority, we will sit in the opposition. If they cannot form the government, other political parties will give their own candidate for the prime ministership through mutual consultation.

Pakistan on Monday morning witnessed another proud moment as its star javelin thrower, Arshad Nadeem, bagged a gold medal for the country during the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. During the first round of the javelin throw final, Nadeem created a record through an 86.81 metre throw. In the second attempt, Arshad broke his own record by achieving an 88m throw, followed by an 85.09m throw in the in fourth attempt to remain on top of the list. In the fifth attempt, the Olympian set a new CWG record of a 90.18m throw and became the first Pakistani to hold the record. Arshad Nadeem beat India's Neeraj Chopra's Tokyo Olympic throw of 87.58m (Gold) and World Athletics Championship throw of 88.13m. This is the second gold for Pakistan in Commonwealth Games 2022. Earlier, weightlifter Nooh Dastagir Butt had won the gold medal for Pakistan in the Commonwealth Games 2022 with a record lift of 405kg.
