Not able to visit the Farmer’s Market on Oahu any time soon? You can order directly from the @ono_kettle_pop website, too.
Until then, here’s how you can ‘attempt’ to make their incredible Salted Caramel MacNut Popcorn at home.
Though I promise it won’t be nearly as good as the real thing. 🤙
Place about 12 cups of popped popcorn in a heatproof bowl, removing any un-popped kernels. Add a cup of chopped macadamia nuts and toss to incorporate.
In a small saucepan over medium heat, melt 1 cup of salted butter. Stir in 2 cups of brown sugar, 1/2 cup light corn syrup and a tsp of salt. Mix and CAREFULLY bring to a simmer (this stuff is like sticky magma), stirring constantly for about 4 or 5 minutes, or until it reaches a temp of about 235 degrees.
Remove pan from heat and CAREFULLY add 1/2 tsp of baking soda and 1 tsp of vanilla extract. THE MIXTURE WILL PROBABLY BUBBLE UP SO BE VERY CAUTIOUS IN DOING THIS.
Again, DANGER. HOT. STICKY. BE CAREFUL. Pah-lease.
Pour caramel sauce over popcorn mix and use a rubber spatula to gently fold the caramel and popcorn together until fully coated.
Spread caramel corn on a parchment lined baking sheet and allow to cool and harden. Sprinkle very generously with @maldonsalt flakes.
Enjoy!

Here’s what you’ll need to do to make six of these fun li’l breakfast sandwiches👇
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Whisk 6 eggs and season generously with salt and pepper. Grease a jumbo muffin tin with cooking spray and evenly distribute egg mix. Cook for about 10 minutes, or until eggs are set.
Meanwhile, cook 6 maple syrup breakfast sausage patties in olive oil in a saute pan over medium heat until brown and cooked through.
Now it’s time to assemble!
Place a mini @eggo_us pancake, egg round, sausage patty, slice of American cheese and another mini pancake in little stacks on a sheet tray. Brush with melted butter and a drizzle of maple syrup. Pop in the oven for about 3 minutes, or until pancakes are warm and cheese is nice and melty.
Allow to cool before digging in, and enjoy!

I know I said BIG a bit aggressively, but I had to do the voiceover in front of my husband in our hotel room and I’m a little too embarrassed to do it all over again.
So, yeah… sorry. 😂

Here’s how to make our Sloppy Lamb Sliders 👇
Drizzle extra virgin olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add a finely chopped onion and 2 cloves of minced garlic. Saute until soft and translucent.
Add 1 pound of ground lamb.
Cook until browned.
Mix 2 tbsp tomato paste into lamb and cook for a minute before adding 1 cup of tomato sauce, 2 tsp Garam Masala, 1/2 tsp cumin, 1/2 tsp coriander, 1/2 tsp chili powder, 1 tbsp brown sugar, salt and pepper. Simmer sauce over low for about 15 minutes, allowing it to thicken and the flavors to come together.
Slather slider buns in butter and toast until golden.
Spoon sloppy lamb mix onto bottom slider bun and top with hot pickled peppers and pea shoots for freshness.
Enjoy!

Here’s how to make Crispy Pork with Spicy Dan Dan Noodles 👇
Cook a box of whole wheat linguine according to package directions, reserving 1 cup of pasta water for the end.
Pro Tip: I like to set my measuring cup in my strainer until it’s time to strain so I don’t forget to reserve the water before dumping the whole thing. 🤪
Put a drizzle of extra virgin olive oil in a pan over medium heat. Add a diced shallot, 4 cloves of minced garlic and thinly sliced whites of 3 green onions to the pan. Saute until soft.
Add 1/2 lb ground pork to the pan, pressing the pork into a flat(ish) patty to sear. Once pork is slightly crisp, flip the giant patty over and begin to break apart, continuing to brown until cooked completely.
Stir in 4 tsp Shaoxing wine, 4 tsp hoisin, 2 tsp sesame oil and 2 tbsp soy sauce. Remove pork from pan and set aside.
Add 4 tbsp Doubanjiang to the pan, stirring for a few seconds until warm. Add 1/2 cup water and scrape brown bits from the pan.
Remove pan from heat and add 2 tbsp soy sauce, 2 tbsp chili crisp, 4 tbsp tahini, 4 tsp sesame oil, 2 tbsp Chinese black vinegar and 2 tbsp sugar. Stir until incorporated.
Transfer cooked noodles, crispy pork and the thinly sliced greens of a few green onions to your pan and toss with the sauce over medium heat, adding reserved pasta water until it’s at your desired sauciness.
Sprinkle with toasted cashews and chopped chives to garnish.
Enjoy!

Until then, here’s how you can attempt to make some of Mom’s Banana Bread from @sevenbrothers to be enjoyed in the comfort of your own home.
Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
Peel 3 ripe bananas and mash them in a bowl. Set aside.
In a separate bowl, whisk together 2 cups flour, 1 tsp baking soda and 1/4 tsp salt. Set aside.
In a large mixing bowl, mix 1/2 cup softened butter and 1 cup sugar until light, fluffy and creamy.
Add 2 eggs to the mix (one at a time) while continuing to whisk.
Now add 1 tsp vanilla and mashed bananas.
Time to add your dry ingredients and 1/2 cup buttermilk, a little bit at a time, until combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Pour batter into a greased loaf pan and sprinkle with 1/3 cup coconut flakes and 2/3 cup dark chocolate chunks.
Fold chocolate and coconut into the batter and then spread evenly.
Sprinkle the top of the batter with 1/3 cup dark chocolate chunks and 1/3 cup coconut flakes.
Bake for 60-75 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
Allow banana bread to cool in pan for about 10 minutes before moving to a wire rack to cool completely.
Meanwhile, make your glaze by mixing 1 cup powdered sugar and 3 tbsp milk.
Drizzle bread with glaze and allow to cool for a couple more minutes before digging in.
Enjoy!

Here’s how you can make this mouth-watering mega Mushroom Au Poivre Sandwich 👇
Saute 2 pounds of sliced mushrooms in extra virgin olive oil and a couple-few tbsp of butter over medium heat.
Season VERY generously with salt and pepper.
Once mushrooms are soft and beautifully basted in butter, remove from pan and set aside.
Add 2 more tbsp of butter to the pan and saute 4 cloves of minced garlic and 1.5 cups of peeled pearl onions until soft.
Carefully remove pan from heat (so you don’t start a fire) and add 1/2 cup of Marsala wine. Carefully place pan back on the heat and simmer until reduced by half.
Add 1 cup of heavy cream.
Simmer until thick and reduced by half.
Generously season your sauce with salt and pepper, and get ready to assemble your sandwich. Whee!
Slather crisp, broiled buns with Dijon mustard.
Place a large pile of arugula on the bottom bun and top with buttery, sautéed mushrooms.
Drizzle generously with your cream sauce.
Top with fresh ground pepper, crispy shallots, chopped chives and a top bun.
Enjoy!

So, like, what’s your favorite *shoulda eaten several hours ago* treat?
Not everything has to be complicated. Take these nachos for example. Pre-made sauces, a couple quick cuts of produce with a flavorful protein - and you have yourself the ultimate football treat. Just don’t break the only rule: a thin layer of chips sprinkled across a sheet tray, ensuring that every. single. bite is nothing short of amazing. GO HAWKS!
Simply peel, wash and freeze hunks of pineapple. Put a dollop of whipped cream in a bowl. Drizzle with extra virgin olive oil. Using a microplane, grate frozen pineapple until nice and confetti-like. Sprinkle with cinnamon, top with toasted coconut flakes, and enjoy!

Butter basted and thinly sliced, the Presa cut of Campo Grande’s Iberico Pork tastes darn right delightful on a toasted King’s Hawaiian sweet roll with goat cheese, honey, chives, arugula, and a hint of dijon.
