Today we decided to stop at the lovely village of St. Margaret on the Hummingbird Highway. We caught up with the chairman, Justo Navas, who gave us a brief insight as to what is happening in his village.

He expressed tremendous happiness for having completed a pavilion where villagers can gather for different events such as weddings, birthdays, dances etc, and an upgrade to their football field courtesy of Hon. Julius Espat. Added to the football field are brand new bathrooms and bleachers. This is surely a huge development since sports is one of the most important recreational activities in the community.

Today February 2, 2024 marks the date where the dream of an entire community came true. Today Valley of Peace Village residents had the first section of the Valley of Peace Road paved. Since it’s establishment in 1982 this has been the cry of approximately 4,000 residents.

The name “Hon. Julius Espat” since today will remain in history as the man who fulfilled this long-awaited dream. The people of Valley of Peace are immensely grateful.

“Today we celebrate this highway work and we also celebrate that we have the best area representative,” said a very happy resident of Valley of Peace who stood joyfully watching the work get done.

While traveling through Cotton Tree Village on the George Price Highway I was able to observe an innovative project that I believe no one has spoken about.

In this area local vendors station to sell their products such as food, vegetables, plants, etc. I used to see several almost deteriorated tents on muddy ground exposed to heavy traffic which was dangerous. Today I saw that the area representative, Hon. Julius Espat, has built several metal stalls. These stalls are now away from direct traffic, on solid and clean ground. Without a doubt this has uplifted these vendors offering them a clean environment where they can work with dignity. What a brilliant idea it is. Kudos.

It's not just about giving orders or instructions; A true leader must be someone others can admire and respect. someone who motivates team members to do their best.

Julius Espat is that type of leader, one who gets involved; someone that puts himself in other's shoes in order to enhance their talent.

Under Espat's leadership a broken ministry transformed into a vital organ for the Development of Belize. We have seen project after project, projects that are crucial for the development of our nation. MIDH couldn't be in better hands.

We normally report infrastructure works in Cayo South but it seems Hon. Julius Espat is also hands-on with sporting activities.

We have been able to see sporting activities in St. Margaret's Village, Arizona in Teakettle, Valley of Peace, to name a few.

Sports is a very important aspect of village life. Kudos to the minister for his efforts.

Infrastructure Works In Armenia Village

Over the years we have seen how the inclement weather conditions have affected Armenia Village damaging road infrastructure and causing flooding conditions.

This is why the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing embarked on a project to build new roads and installation of culverts on strategic points in the community. This will enable residents to have easier access to their homes and reduce wear and tear of vehicles. These are ongoing works which will continue in other areas of the village.

Even a blind man can see the amount of infrastructural work being done throughout the country by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development and Housing. The Cayo South area which has a high population of farmers has seen significant farm road works. In Arizona, Teakettle Village, where farmers suffered for decades accessing their farms and transporting their produce on foot, are now happy to see their farm road being built. This new road will impact a vast majority of farmers and their families making their farms more accessible and easier to make their products available to the Belizean market. There is no better way to empower people than to helping them become independent.

Wife of UDP Council candidate, PC Alicia Trapp, Gone Rogue.

With Village Council election season around the country the PUP continues to win with landslides while the UDP continues to behave more aggressive defeat after defeat.

This past weekend two elections were held in the Cayo South Constituency of which the UDP was defeated in both. Teakettle Village and Ontario Village for years had UDP Village Chairpersons, and during election day it became a heated battle as they became closer to giving up their questionable leadership. In Teakettle UDP Chairman seeking re-election, Howell Hutchinson, accompanied by his wife, PC Alicia Trapp, clearly displayed frustration and rage as they saw that every second that went by they were closer to defeat. On several occasions these two and other UDPs including past UDP Chairman, Alberto August and the Notorious John Saldivar were heard chanting insults at PUP campaigners, at times even wanting to become physically aggressive. It was on one of these instances that the wife of Howell Hutchinson, Police Officer Alicia Trapp, publicly insulted Minister Julius Espat. It reached the point where she pointed at the Minister’s face while shouting barbarities or even showing signs of wanting to physically harm him.

To add insult, she quickly made a police report against Minister Julius Espat for aggression. She lied by stating she was an independent observer at the election but failed to report her direct relationship with the UDP candidate.

This is an ongoing case which might result in a defamation suit against PC Trapp after blatantly lying infront on many witnesses that have come forward to give their statement of events.

We at The Peasant's Report can recall one of the long time promises that Hon. Julius Espat had made to residents of Cayo South along the George Price Highway which was the construction of sidewalks. We can now see that now as the Minister of Infrastructure Development and Housing Hon. Espat did not hesitate to make his promise a reality.

Residents from Roaring Creek up to Blackman Eddy can now enjoy safe movement and easy mobility within their communities. With no doubt these sidewalks will play a vital role in community development.

Kudos Minister Julius Espat and his entire team at MIDH.

People all around the country, mainly from neglected rural communities, have expressed great appreciation towards the Ministry of Infrastructure Development & Housing for the valuable work that has been done in a short time.

Minister Hon. Julius Espat - Cayo South in the house explained the new way of doing things at the ministry to ensure that everyone has a fair chance of participating in the Infrastructural development of this country.

29/04/2021

It is wonderful to see that housing opportunities are on the pipeline for many needy, hard working Belizeans. A rebirth to a ministry that was dead for far to long under the past UDP administration.

Kudos to the Hon. Minister Julius Espat - Cayo South for this project of great significance to the Belizean people.

What angers the leader of the opposition, Patrick Faber, and the rest of the UDP is that people all across the country are now seeing significant infrastructural work. Villages from north to south, east to west, that had been abandoned and neglected for years and years are now getting the attention they deserve.

It is time for the opposition to SIT DOWN and watch how "A Peasant" gets the work done.

We at Peasants Reports have the duty to remind the Belizean people that for 13 years the UDP government and Former Prime Minister Dean Oliver Barrow himself frequently humiliated and verbally assaulted the other members of the house.

All the buzz in the market after the recent house meeting is about such an insignificant word, "boy or bwai."

In our Belizean culture that word is part of our habitual vocabulary. We use that word so normal that we don't even realize it when we say it.

But all this noise is only a political strategy. Minister Julius Espat during his mission of representing his people has had to endure many verbal attacks from members of the UDP. On one occasion they expelled him from the House of Representatives like a tyrant, humiliated him and dragged him like never seen in the history of this country, and all for speaking the truth and without mincing words.

Julius has been called "Sick Puppy," "Beverly Hill Chiwawa," "Schizophrenic," "Simple Peasant," just to name a few of the insults.

Regardless of these aggressions, the Hon. Julius Espat or "People's Warrior" as his constituents call him in his area has never abandoned the battle for the people. Since his appointment as the Minister of Infrastructure Development and Housing we have seen how communities that had been abandoned for more than a decade are now receiving the best government attention through his ministry.

Julius Espat, the people are thankful for representing them with bravery, courage and integrity.

A few days ago we reported about Ramon Witz and the land scam that left the Valley of Peace Ketchi Rice Farmers Association without their land. Information shows he issued the rice mill land to one of his friends. Now we have been reliably informed that he has brokered a deal with a very controversial family in the same Valley of Peace Community. A very close source from his camp told Peasant's Report that he has promised to give them the village Quarry in exchange for their support. We must note that the village came up in arms when this same family tried to privatize this village land. Ramon Witz has proven that he has never cared and will never care for the interests of rural communities in Cayo South.

In myths of all bad news there is always something positive to report in Cayo South. Today the Arizona youths in Teakettle village partnered with the PUP Cayo South Committee to install new goal posts to their football field. Before all this ot had wooden ones that had already deteriorated. We were on the ground witnesses such joy and team effort when the young people installed them themselves.

PUP Area Representative Julius Espat along PUP Cayo South Committee and village leaders are presently on the ground assisting families that have been affected by these historic floods. We note that also other neighboring communities in Cayo South are organizing to gather assistance for these communities.
