Choctaw Nation Tribal Court is providing additional opportunities for tribal members to attend court to pay fines and clear outstanding warrants. See below.

Tribal Court will stay open until 7:30 p.m. on December 5. Contact the Choctaw Nation Public Defenders Office at 580-634-0678 for more information and to see if you qualify.

Choctaw tribal members may be eligible to receive beef and pecans supplied by Choctaw Ranches. To qualify, applicants must be Choctaw Nation tribal members, 18 or older, residing within the reservation and meet low-income requirements.

Currently open for the Annual Hunting and Grazing Land Lease Auction

Bidding is currently open for the Annual Hunting and Grazing Land Lease Auction. The auction will be held on January 6 at 1:00 p.m. at the Choctaw Nation Headquarters.

All prospective bidders are encouraged to inspect interested property before the lease event. Sealed bids will be accepted, but each tract of land will be offered to the highest responsible bidder at public auction, so bidders are encouraged to be present. Bidding can be completed at chocta.ws/hunting-lease.

Online bidding closes on January 5 at 11:59 p.m.

Justin Hooper, a citizen of the Choctaw Nation, was cited for speeding in 2018 by Tulsa Police in a part of the city within the historic boundaries of the Muscogee (Creek) Nation.

He paid a $150 fine for the ticket, but filed a lawsuit after the Supreme Court’s ruling in McGirt v. Oklahoma. Federal judge dismisses Tulsa ticketing jurisdiction suit. Hooper argued that the city did not have jurisdiction because his offense was committed by a Native American in Indian Country.

A judge in the Northern District of Oklahoma on Friday dismissed a lawsuit debating the City of Tulsa’s jurisdiction over Natives in Indian Country.
