FROM THE DESK OF WRKH438:
😀 Please check out all of our repeaters on myGMRS.com. Please familiarize yourself with the information guidelines on each repeater. Any questions or comments, please do not hesitate to contact us.
💥 New for 2023 !!! We are always looking for opportunities to serve the GMRS community. Our thinking is to put up repeaters where they are more likely to be used by the larger number of users over a more broad coverage area. This process will benefit the greater number of GMRS users. We currently have three (3) future projects on the table to include repeaters in the Level Cross area, the southern Guilford / northern Randolph County area and the Montgomery County / Uhwarrie area. These projects will develop further by "need" not "necessity". We will keep everyone informed as to our progress and thoughts. "Stay tuned" for future updates....
😎 The Alamance 625 repeater is our newest addition to the Piedmont NC GMRS repeater family. Located in southern Alamance County, the repeater has been utilized and range tested in Guilford, Alamance, Randolph, Forsyth, Rockingham, Pittsylvania, Lee, Chatham, Orange, Durham, Davidson, Wake and Moore Counties and other's I am sure. Our hope is to draw from GMRS stations and users to the East of the repeater within it's designed coverage area. Please join us and use the repeater !!!
🆒 We have had questions about the coverage area of the Stone Mountain 550 repeater. If you are not familiar with how radio (UHF) and RF works in a terrain sensitive element, especially while mobile or with the use of a handheld, this can be a confusing subject. The Stone Mountain 550 repeater on any given day has the capability of audible conversation from Rock Hill, South Carolina to Blacksburg, Virginia and to eastern Guilford County to the East. This coverage area can change conditionally and seasonally. North, East and South are favored directions. The West is somewhat inhibited by terrain, with higher elevations and mountain ranges. Understanding the coverage of any repeater is to also "UNDERSTAND" the capability and efficiency of "YOUR" station, whether mobile or base. Handhelds are very limited and are marginal to say the least unless used in the shortest of distances, which is what they are primarily intended for. Using a low power handheld with a stock or sub-par antenna is not as much the handheld transmitter as is the sensitivity of the repeater receiver which has to hear the commonly inadequate transmitted signal. NOTE*****Our repeaters are strategically located for efficient and effective coverage areas. We believe in redundancy for back-up situations as noticed in overlap of repeater coverage in some cases. While the repeaters will perform per our design, our concept is not for providing an avenue to see how "FAR" one can talk, but communication "CLOSER" to the repeaters in again, an efficient, reliable and dependable communication effort. "Nobody's repeaters talk "EVERYWHERE", but they "ALL" talk "SOMEWHERE."
