The central government on Monday issued various guidelines for the coronavirus inoculation drive. Among them include vaccinating 100-200 people in each session per day, monitoring them for half an hour after administering the shots to examine any adverse event, and to allow only one beneficiary at a time.

According to the guidelines issued to states recently, the Covid Vaccine Intelligence Network (Co-WIN) system--a digitalised platform--will be used to track enlisted beneficiaries for the vaccination and anti-coronavirus vaccines on a real-time basis, as reported by news agency PTI.

According to the guidelines, only pre-registered beneficiaries will be vaccinated at the vaccination site, keeping prioritisation in mind, in addition, there will be no provision for on-the-spot registrations.

The Centre has asked states to allocate the vaccine from one manufacturer to a district to avoid mixing of different Covid-19 vaccines in the field.

"As per the Covid-19 Vaccine Operational Guidelines, all measures should be taken to avoid exposing the vaccine carrier, vaccine vials or ice packs to direct sunlight, PTI quoted a document issued by the Centre.

Vaccines and diluents should be kept inside the vaccine carrier with the lid closed until a beneficiary comes to the centre for vaccination.

"There may not be vaccine vial monitors (VVM) and Date of Expiry on the label of COVID-19 vaccine, this should not discourage vaccinators from using the vaccine. At the end of the session, the vaccine carrier with all ice packs and unopened vaccine vials should be sent back to the distributing cold chain point," PTI quoted the latest guidelines.

States have been asked to implement an integrated 360-degree comprehensive advocacy communication and social mobilisation strategy to address the challenges surrounding vaccine rollout progress and benefits.

The Centre has stated that the country stands on the cusp of Covid-19 vaccine administration, even as certain challenges need to be countered well in time.

"These may include the challenge of ensuring over 1.3 billion people in India receive factual and timely information and updates on vaccine rollout progress and benefits, public''s anxiety and queries regarding government''s decision for prioritisation of vaccine administration, apprehension about the vaccines introduced after a short trial raising safety concerns, and fear of adverse events, misconception about vaccine efficacy, rumours and negative narrative in media/social media space and laxity observed in public adherence to Covid appropriate behaviour," PTI quoted the document.

The vaccination team will consist of five members, it said.

Each session should be planned for 100 beneficiaries per day. If the session site has adequate logistics and space available for the waiting room and observation room along with arrangement for crowd management, one more vaccinator officer can be added to create a session for 200 beneficiaries, the guidelines stated.

The virus vaccine will be offered first to healthcare workers, frontline workers and to persons above 50 years of age, followed by persons younger than 50 years of age with associated comorbidities based on the evolving pandemic situation, and finally to the remaining population based on the disease epidemiology and vaccine availability.

The priority group of above 50 years may be further subdivided into those above 60 years of age and those between 50 to 60 years of age for purposes of phasing of rollout based on the pandemic situation and vaccine availability.

"The latest electoral roll for Lok Sabha and legislative assembly election will be used to identify the population aged 50 years or more," PTI reported.

Under phase one of the vaccination, it is planned to vaccinate nearly 30 crore population.

Twelve photo-identity documents, including Voter ID, Aadhar card, driving license, passport and pension document, will be required for self-registration on the Co-WIN website, it added.

HATHRAS: AP Singh, the lawyer who fought in defence of all convicts in the 2012 Nirbhaya gang-r**e case, will be defending the four men accused in the Hathras gang-r**e and murder case.

According to reports, Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha, an upper-caste body, has reached out to Singh to fight the accused in the alleged gangr**e of the 19-year-old girl, who died during medical treatment at Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital.

In a recent press release, AP Singh has mentioned that the body had collected a lot of money to hire him as they thought the SC/ST objective was being 'misused' to slander the upper caste community.

The decision was taken by former Union Minister Raja Manvendra Singh, who is the national president of Akhil Bharatiya Kshatriya Mahasabha.

Notably, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister has said that a conspiracy was being hatched in the state by politicising the incident in order to organise an ethnic riot. The UP Police had also filed a lawsuit under IPC sections in Lucknow.

Amid a nationwide outrage over the growing number of caste-led r**e cases, the Hathras case has started receiving support from upper-caste groups who are demanding an 'unbiased' probe.

The Kapil Sharma Show' has been one of the few programs that resumed shooting amid the COVID-19 pandemic, and began airing new episodes that have kept the audience entertained during the weekends.

While not many celebs are coming on board to promote their films, the show has been inviting guests ranging from veteran actors, forgotten stars, BR Chopra's 'Mahabharat' cast among others.

Recently, filmmaker Anubhav Sinha and actor Manoj Bajpayee came on the chat show to promote their music video 'Bambai Main Ka Ba'.

However, it was one of the segments involving Kiku Sharda and Krushna Abhishek that left a section of social media users unhappy.

The duo participated in a parody sketch which included Republic TV editor Arnab Goswami.

They added parts where Goswami called out Salman Khan and asked him to speak up over the alleged Bollywood drug nexus, and his viral 'Mujhe Drugs Do' rant.

The country's 'cheapest' diagnostic facility will start functioning at Gurdwara Bangla Sahib in December and an MRI here will cost just Rs 50, according to the Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC).

A dialysis centre is also being set up at Guru Harkrishan Hospital on the gurdwara premises. It will start functioning next week. A dialysis procedure will cost only Rs 600, DSGMC president Manjinder Singh Sirsa said.

Diagnostic machines worth Rs 6 crore were donated to the hospital. These include four machines for dialysis, and a machine each for ultrasound, X-Ray and MRI, he said.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) services will be available for the needy for just Rs 50. For others, an MRI scan will cost Rs 800. A committee of doctors has been set up to decide who needs concession, Sirsa said.

In private laboratories, an MRI costs at least Rs 2,500.

People from lower income groups will be able to get an X-Ray and ultrasound done for just Rs 150.

The machines are being installed and the diagnostic centre will be operational in the first week of December. These will be the most affordable diagnostic services in the country, Sirsa said.

BREAKING:

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday ordered a CBI probe into the alleged r**e and murder of a Dalit woman in Hathras.

"Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has ordered a CBI probe into the entire Hathras case," a tweet from the CM Office said.

This comes amid massive outrage over the alleged r**e and murder of the woman and mishandling by the government.

The district administration also denied entry to opposition leaders and media into the village.

Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra were denied entry into Hathras on Thursday and were allowed on Saturday to visit the village.

The 19-year-old Dalit woman was allegedly r**ed at a village in Hathras by four men on September 14. After her condition deteriorated, she was referred to the Delhi's Safdarjung hospital where she breathed her last on Tuesday.

She was cremated in the early hours of Wednesday, with her family alleging the local police forced them to conduct the last rites in the dead of the night.

Local police officers, however, had said the cremation was carried out "as per the wishes of the family".

03/10/2020

It is pretty annoying when you have hyper-active groups and some equally hyper-active individuals in your WhatsApp contacts. Till now you could have muted groups and contacts for up to a year at a time. But time flies. And it can be plainly annoying to repeat the process for habitual offenders, particularly if there are many on your WhatsApp. It turns out that the latest WhatsApp Beta for Android is getting a slightly enhanced version of the same feature—the ability to mute a contact or a group forever. This comes as part of the WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.20.201.10 version and the WhatsApp Beta for iPhone version 2.20.100.23

As always, the good folks over at WABetaInfo tell us that the Always Mute feature now replaces the '1 year' option for muting conversations.

The options now will be 8 hours, 1 week and Always. You can also choose to hide notifications from the contacts and groups you have muted, for added peace of mind. The WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.20.201.10 version and the WhatsApp Beta for iPhone version 2.20.100.23 gets the forever mute option at this time, which to be honest, is an incredible dollop of convenience.

The WhatsApp Beta for iPhone version 2.20.100.23 also adds support for iOS 14, which we expect will roll out on the App Store anytime in the coming days, as priority. These include bug fixes and compiling using the iOS 14 SDK. The visuals changes seem to include a bigger search bar, limited support for photos if that is what a user chooses and better integration with iOS 14.

The WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.20.201.10 version also adds a new Storage Usage UI that gives you a better idea of the files that may be eating up the storage space in your phone—including forwarded files on WhatsApp, large files that you may have shared and even specific chats that could include a lot of photos, videos, GIFs and documents shared over time. While the existing feature set also has the detailed listing for the individual chat sizes, the visual UI experience would make it even easier for make WhatsApp more frugal on your phone.

The WhatsApp Beta for Android 2.20.201.10 version also rolls out Media Guidelines. These will allow you to add stickers or text when you edit an image, for instance, and align these properly. Also, and this remains unexplained—the latest WhatsApp Beta for Android and WhatsApp Beta for iPhone have removed the voice and video call buttons for Verified Business accounts from the chat window. WABetaInfo though points out that these are still available if a user taps on the profile icon in the chat or accesses the contact list.

New Delhi: At a time when people across the country are reeling from shock over Hathras and Balrampur r**e cases, a 14-year-old girl, belonging to the Scheduled Castes, was killed in Easter Uttar Pradesh’s Bhadohi district on Thursday. The police said that the girl’s head was ‘smashed with a brick’. She had gone to a field to relieve herself.

Superintendent of Police Ram Badan Singh said that her brother went who looking for her found the body in the field. The body has stab injuries to the face and other parts and has also been battered with bricks, the SP said, adding that it has been sent for a post-mortem examination.

Further details will be known only after receiving the autopsy report, he added. Police have arrested three members of a family on the complaint of the father of the deceased.

“The incident is a fallout of enmity between neighbours. The father of the girl has given a complaint that after a tiff on September 28, the rivals had warned that he would be taught a lesson”, the SP stated.

Reacting to the case, the Congress party under the hashtag , asked Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to resign.

“Is there no end to the cruelty BJP will allow? Barely 40 kms from the PM’s constituency, another child has been brutalised. CM Ajay Bisht must resign,” the grand old party tweeted.

Lucknow: The forensic report of the Hathras victim, who succumbed to her injuries following an alleged gang r**e, shows that the woman was not r**ed, Uttar Pradesh Additional Director General of Police (Law and Order) Prashant Kumar said on Thursday.

'The forensic science laboratory report clearly says that s***m was not found in the samples collected from the woman… The report has made it clear that the woman was not r**ed,' Kumar said in a press conference here.

The 19-year-old had succumbed to assault injuries in Delhi's Safdarjung Hospital on Tuesday where she was brought on Monday from Aligarh Muslim University Medical College.

The senior police official said that the postmortem, which was conducted by a team of doctors in Delhi, has established that the death was caused by the trauma of her neck injury.

'According to the postmortem report, the victim died due to the trauma of her neck injury. FSL report also clearly shows that s***m was not found in the collected samples. It suggests that some people twisted the matter to stir caste-based tension,' Kumar said.

'Even the woman in her statement to police did not mention about r**e but talked about 'marpeet' (beating) only, he said.

'For disturbing social harmony and create caste violence, some persons wrongly presented facts,' the UP police officer said.

'Police took immediate action in the case and now we will identify those who tried to disturb social harmony and create caste violence,' the ADG added, stressing that people 'distorted facts' in the media.

Kumar said that the victim was provided with appropriate and timely medical attention and added that samples were sent to the FSL on September 25 for testing.

He said that the victim first mentioned the r**e on September 22. 'A case was registered in the matter on her statement,' Kumar said.

'Chief Minister has set up a special investigation team to probe the case. Whoever is found guilty in the matter will not be spared… Local authorities have imposed Section 144. Stopping the media is a decision of the local administration,' he said.

The police conducted her last rites at her native place in the wee hours of Wednesday. All four accused involved in the incident have been arrested.

30/09/2020

A county in China has declared an emergency after a three-year-old boy was confirmed to be infected by bubonic plague.

As per media reports, the three-year-old, from a remote village in Menghai county in Yunnan province in China, was confirmed to be infected by the disease on Sunday. Following this, the county instituted a Level-4 emergency response.

The media report added that the case is mild and that the boy was treated immediately.

The case was initially suspected after three rats were found dead "for unknown reasons" in a village after which health authorities conducted a screening throughout the county.

"Infected rats are a key source of the disease, which also transmits to humans through bites from infected fleas," an official was quoted as saying by Global Times.

He said the disease was unlikely to spread throughout Yunnan but that the public needs to be aware of the potential for infection among rats.

In July, a level-three alarm was raised in the Chinese autonomous region of Inner Mongolia, 2,200 miles northeast of Menghai, after a herdsman was diagnosed with the disease.

A 15-year-old boy had died in western Mongolia of bubonic plague after eating an infected marmot.

Plague is found in marmots, large rodents that live in burrows in the sprawling North Asian grassland, and some other wild animals in parts of Mongolia, northwestern China and eastern Russia.

Here is what happened!

A teenage girl who was with her mother, cutting grass in maze field was chocked with her dupatta, sexually assaulted and her tongue was slit by a group of men.

Mother says, girl was cutting grass at a distance and it took her some time to realise that she was missing. On searching, she was found unconscious in maze field nearby.

She was admitted to a hospital in Delhi and her condition was critical.

Unfortunately, she lost this war between life and death.

The incident is from Hathras, UP. Victim's family alleges that police didn't help initially and only helped after the outrage.

The incident happened on 14th September.

As per a report on DNA (27th September), all four named accused in the case have been arrested.

On social media, not many people are talking about this case, no prominent calls for justice were made. No prominent calls for the arrest of these criminals were heard.

Sometimes I wonder, why this kind of selective approach is taken on social media where people speak about any injustice only when it suits their political narrative.

All the accused must be given the harshest punishment possible, after proper investigation.

This one shouldn't be dragged like other cases. UP POLICE SHOULD NOW SET AN EXAMPLE!!!!

On their way to the monastery they had to cross the river Ganga flowing fully though less violently. There was an young beautiful maiden in distress, sitting close to the banks, whose village was just across the river. She was scared to cross the river by herself so she asked the elder monk to help her cross the river."

Further, he wrote, ""Sure" said the Zen Master and held her up in his arms. They crossed the river and he let her down gently as she went to her village after thanking the Master. The younger monk wasn't taking this all easily. He looked little worried. The monks came to their monastery after couple of hours of difficult walk in the hills, but the younger monk was still not settled. Sensing it the Guru asked him what the matter was. The young monk said "Master, we have sworn of not touching a woman, but you carried her in your arms, you tell us not to think of women but you touched her" complained the disciple. The Zen Master smiled n replied "I carried her across the river and left her on the other side. Are You Still Carrying Her ? "

Replying to this interesting story, Nora wrote, "Thank you Terrence! In todays time of social media video morphing and photoshop effects for meme purposes.. im glad you have not let it bother you and you have remained poised and dignified! This too shall pass you and geeta maam have been so respectful with me and have made me feel so loved and accepted as a judge on the show, its been a great life learning experience! Stay blessed."
