Calaguas said the plan is originally free internet access for all students, but the mayor ordered free internet access for all instead.
“For students, the City Government will issue internet access cards, meaning they will have their own access strictly for learning. Para mas mabilis ang access nila,” Calaguas said.
She said the internet access with cards will be distributed together with the tablets purchased by Lazatin for public school students from Grades 4 to 12 and the 3,200 students of the City College.
Calaguas was also the head of the Angeles City Information Communication Technology Division in 2001 during the time of Mayor Carmelo “Tarzan” Lazatin.
The full computerization of the City Government revenue offices was also certified as ISO 9001:2000 in 2002, the first local government unit outside Metro Manila to receive the certification.
Pil-Chi vowed to finish the installation of satellites by the first week of October before classes start.
Lazatin allocated a total of P161 million for the tablets of 48,000 public school students and P15 million for the tablet of CCA students.
Some P20 million were allotted for the free Wifi for Angelenos. (PR)
