I thought it'd be a good idea to post my best of 2021 list before the year runs out!!
Lots of great albums and singles in 2021. My fav album is definitely, Joy Orbison's first full length release, Still Slipping Vol.1. Numerous other albums stood out as well like Space Afrika - Honest labour, El Michels Affair - Yeti Season and Nightmares On Wax - Shout Out! To Freedom..., to name a few.
On the home front, it's been a great year for local artists. Many new albums and EPs from new up and coming artists like Ellxandra's - Old Memories That Never Were; Hologramme - Ciel and Pascale Project - Where's The Party. Other artists on my best Local release section: Priori - Our Own Power, his second full length, MTL veterans, Fred Everything's Alone (Together) EP and turntablist/hiphop dj, DJ Killa-Jewel's Sagittarius EP.
The breakout story of the year definitely is Skiifall, the montreal-Nord rapper managed to MTL on the map. Getting heavy rotation BBC Radio One in the UK.
2021 was good musically! Lots of great sounds which took our minds away from our day to day anguish! I can't wait to see what 2022 has in store for us.
