After a short break, the committee is back to business as usual!
Harvest Moon was a great time. We want to say a special thank you to the many Town departments, Sheridan businesses, sponsors, and individuals that assisted in making our event safe and enjoyable for everyone. We could not do any of this without you and we appreciate the continued support!
Additionally, we feel so blessed to have found such an amazing team in the Ohio Carnival Co. staff and are so thankful that they took a chance on Sheridan this year! Brandon and his team blew us out of the water with their professionalism, willingness to pitch in extra hands, and most especially: the kindness they extended to multiple community members to ensure every family they encountered was having a good time. We hope to have them back in the future!
Finally, to the community, YOU are our reason. This group of volunteers is committed to bringing engaging events back to Sheridan and you really showed up for us at Harvest Moon! Thank YOU!
As you can probably imagine, there is much work and time that goes in to planning and successfully executing these events. While our team is motivated and mighty, we are small. We are looking to 2026 with so much optimism but we have a few challenges ahead of us...
Chiefly, we need more volunteers. We need people from all skill sets and walks of life to join us on this journey. If you feel a pull toward service, and planning events speaks to you, we would love to have you at an upcoming meeting. There are no dues and we do not enforce a mandatory time commitment. We legitimately are grateful for whatever time you are willing to give. Newcomers are welcome any time, and we hope you'll give us a shot!
Secondly, Harvest Moon took a large amount of our financial capital. As a newer committee, funded through donations alone, we have been doing our best to get the ball rolling. We have planned a lot on very short notice and funding these events has not been easy. There are so many worthwhile causes in this town that also run on the generosity of our residents and we know giving financially is not always feasible.
That said, 2026 is America's 250th birthday, and the cost of fireworks has gone up substantially due mostly to the special occasion. The fireworks show alone for 2026 has been quoted at $19k for the same show we had last year. For reference, we paid $13.5k last year. That of course doesn't include the festival music, activities, etc.
As you can see, we are up against some challenges for next year's events but we are working hard to find solutions. Your continued support of our committee, in whatever form that might take, is appreciated!
We thank you for supporting us at all of our 2025 events. Keep following along here for continued updates, and as always join us at a meeting for more information.
