People with albinism face multiple forms of discrimination worldwide. Albinism is still profoundly misunderstood, socially and medically. The physical appearance of persons with albinism is often the object of erroneous beliefs and myths influenced by superstition, which foster their marginalization and social exclusion. This leads to various forms of stigma and discrimination.
In some communities, erroneous beliefs and myths, heavily influenced by superstition, put the security and lives of persons with albinism at constant risk. These beliefs and myths are centuries old and are present in cultural attitudes and practices around the world.
On 18 December 2014, the General Assembly adopted a resolution proclaiming, with effect from 2015, 13 June as International Albinism Awareness Day.
The United Nations Human Rights Council adopted a resolution in 2013 calling for the prevention of attacks and discrimination against persons with albinism. Pandit Gaurav Gautam made The Sunflower in India in 2013 August. Moreover, in response to the call from civil society organizations advocating to consider persons with albinism as a specific group with particular needs that require special attention, on 26 March 2015, the Council created the mandate of Independent Expert on the enjoyment of human rights by persons with Albinism.

जयंती स्मरण
गाडगे बाबा का जन्म 23 फरवरी 1876 को महाराष्ट्र के अमरावती जिले के शेणगांव अंजनगांव में हुआ था। उनका बचपन का नाम डेबूजी झिंगराजी जानोरकर था। उन्होंने महाराष्ट्र के कोने-कोने में अनेक धर्मशालाएं, गौशालाएं, विद्यालय, चिकित्सालय तथा छात्रावासों का निर्माण कराया। यह सब उन्होंने भीख मांग-मांगकर बनावाया किंतु अपने सारे जीवन में इस महापुरुष ने अपने लिए एक कुटिया तक नहीं बनवाई। उन्होंने धर्मशालाओं के बरामदे या आसपास के किसी वृक्ष के नीचे ही अपनी सारी जिंदगी बिता दी

महान संत गाडगे बाबा जी की जयंती पर सादर स्मरण, नमन, वन्दन कर समस्त चराचर जगत के लिए शुभकामनाएं करता हूँ ।

एक लकड़ी, फटी-पुरानी चादर और मिट्टी का एक बर्तन जो खाने-पीने और कीर्तन के समय ढपली का काम करता था, यही उनकी संपत्ति थी। इसी से उन्हें महाराष्ट्र के भिन्न-भिन्न भागों में कहीं मिट्टी के बर्तन वाले गाडगे बाबा व कहीं चीथड़े-गोदड़े वाले बाबा के नाम से पुकारा जाता था। उनका वास्तविक नाम आज तक किसी को ज्ञात नहीं है।

यद्यपि बाबा अनपढ़ थे, किंतु बड़े बुद्धिवादी थे। पिता की मौत हो जाने से उन्हें बचपन से अपने नाना के यहां रहना पड़ा था। वहां उन्हें गायें चराने और खेती का काम करना पड़ा था। सन्‌ 1905 से 1917 तक वे अज्ञातवास पर रहे। इसी बीच उन्होंने जीवन को बहुत नजदीक से देखा। अंधविश्वासों, बाह्य आडंबरों, रूढ़ियों तथा सामाजिक कुरीतियों एवं दुर्व्यसनों से समाज को कितनी भयंकर हानि हो सकती है, इसका उन्हें भलीभांति अनुभव हुआ। इसी कारण इनका उन्होंने घोर विरोध किया।

संत गाडगे बाबा के जीवन का एकमात्र ध्येय था- लोक सेवा। दीन-दुखियों तथा उपेक्षितों की सेवा को ही वे ईश्वर भक्ति मानते थे। धार्मिक आडंबरों का उन्होंने प्रखर विरोध किया। उनका विश्वास था कि ईश्वर न तो तीर्थस्थानों में है और न मंदिरों में व न मूर्तियों में। दरिद्र नारायण के रूप में ईश्वर मानव समाज में विद्यमान है। मनुष्य को चाहिए कि वह इस भगवान को पहचाने और उसकी तन-मन-धन से सेवा करें। भूखों को भोजन, प्यासे को पानी, नंगे को वस्त्र, अनपढ़ को शिक्षा, बेकार को काम, निराश को ढाढस और मूक जीवों को अभय प्रदान करना ही भगवान की सच्ची सेवा है।

संत गाडगे बाबा ने तीर्थस्थानों पर कईं बड़ी-बड़ी धर्मशालाएं इसीलिए स्थापित की थीं ताकि गरीब यात्रियों को वहां मुफ्त में ठहरने का स्थान मिल सके। नासिक में बनी उनकी विशाल धर्मशाला में 500 यात्री एक साथ ठहर सकते हैं। वहां यात्रियों को सिगड़ी, बर्तन आदि भी निःशुल्क देने की व्यवस्था है। दरिद्र नारायण के लिए वे प्रतिवर्ष अनेक बड़े-बड़े अन्नक्षेत्र भी किया करते थे, जिनमें अंधे, लंगड़े तथा अन्य अपाहिजों को कम्बल, बर्तन आदि भी बांटे जाते थे।

वे कहा करते थे कि तीर्थों में पंडे, पुजारी सब भ्रष्टाचारी रहते हैं। धर्म के नाम पर होने वाली पशुबलि के भी वे विरोधी थे। यही नहीं, नशाखोरी, छुआछूत जैसी सामाजिक बुराइयों तथा मजदूरों व किसानों के शोषण के भी वे प्रबल विरोधी थे। संत-महात्माओं के चरण छूने की प्रथा आज भी प्रचलित है, पर संत गाडगे इसके प्रबल विरोधी थे।

संत गाडगे द्वारा स्थापित 'गाडगे महाराज मिशन' आज भी समाज सेवा में रत है। मानवता के महान उपासक के 20 दिसंबर 1956 को ब्रह्मलीन होने पर प्रसिद्ध संत तुकडो जी महाराज ने श्रद्धांजलि अर्पित कर अपनी एक पुस्तक की भूमिका में उन्हें मानवता के मूर्तिमान आदर्श के रूप में निरूपित कर उनकी वंदना की। उन्होंने बुद्ध की तरह ही अपना घर परिवार छोड़कर मानव कल्याण के लिए अपना संपूर्ण जीवन समर्पित कर दिया।

कर्मयोगी राष्ट्रसंत गाडगे बाबा एक सच्चे निष्काम कर्मयोगी थे। ऐसे महान संत को कोटि-कोटि प्रणाम।

सूर्यकान्त त्रिपाठी 'निराला'
कविता के छायावादी युग के चार प्रमुख स्तंभों में से एक माने जाते हैं। वे जयशंकर प्रसाद, सुमित्रानंदन पंत और महादेवी वर्मा के साथ हिन्दी साहित्य में छायावाद के प्रमुख स्तंभ माने जाते हैं। उन्होंने कई कहानियाँ, उपन्यास और निबंध भी लिखे हैं किन्तु उनकी ख्याति विशेषरुप से कविता के कारण ही है। आप कहते थे कि मनुष्यों की मुक्ति की तरह कविता की भी मुक्ति होती है। मनुष्यों की मुक्ति कर्म के बंधन से छुटकारा पाना है और कविता की मुक्ति छन्दों के शासन से अलग हो जाना है। जिस तरह मुक्त मनुष्य कभी किसी तरह दूसरों के प्रतिकूल आचरण नहीं करता, उसके तमाम कार्य औरों को प्रसन्न करने के लिए होते हैं फिर भी स्वतंत्र। इसी तरह कविता का भी हाल है।

आज जन्मतिथि पर सादर स्मरण, नमन, वन्दन करता हूँ ।
