Looking forward to seeing many of you later today at Hagley Museum and Library for Science Saturday!

This Science Saturday (4/27), we're shaking things up with an earthquake theme and two special guests. Joining us will be civil engineer, Dani the Engineer, who will bring a testing tool to see what structures can withstand seismic activity. Robotics team Two Eyed Illuminati will demonstrate a robot they design, build, and program. Science Saturdays are included with regular admission, and free for Hagley Members and children 5 and younger.

Advice for folks attending WRYMC this weekend!

1 - Talk to folks beyond your section. One of the best parts of ASCE conferences is getting to network. I have loved meeting so many folks from different civil engineering backgrounds. ERYMC last month was especially fun because I got to meet .abdo.31 and in person for the first time as well seeing so many folks who inspire me including .

2 - Come with an open mind - YMLS specifically is a conference focused on leadership development, so coming with an open mind to learn about different ways to develop your leadership style is crucial to getting the most out of this weekend.

What questions do you have for me about being an ASCE Younger Member or what else would you add to this list?

This past weekend, I presented 2 sessions at Younger Member Leadership Symposium (YMLS) in Hartford, CT. The first session focused on communication styles and the second covered DEI in our Everyday Lives. When I first attended this conference in 2019 in Reston, VA, I don't think I spoke to many people beyond the 2 fellow Philly YMF folks that I attended with. This past weekend I definitely found myself talking to more people that I was meeting for the first time and getting outside my comfort zone. While I don't plan to ever agree to present 2 sessions back to back in the future as I didn't have the stamina for that, it was an awesome experience overall and hope that folks learned a bit from both of these sessions.

In addition to speaking, I was honored to receive the Outstanding Younger Member in Community Activities Award during the conference’s awards banquet for all the STEM Outreach work I do in my local community and beyond.

This weekend was also awesome because I got to meet many of your in person for the first time!

Thank you so much to ASCE CYM for the awesome programming and inviting me to speak and the planning committee who hosting some amazing socials and other events throughout the 3 day conference.

Looking forward to seeing many of you again in Charlotte in 2023 and Miami in 2024!

What questions do you have for me about this conference?

For those who want to travel to Austion, TX or Park City, Utah there will be similar conferences to this in the next two months if you are interested in attending!

I am excited to be speaking at Structures Congress next week in Atlanta! For folks who are unfamiliar, Structures Congress is the annual conference of the Structural Engineering Institute (SEI) of ASCE and the premier event in structural engineering! SEI is a vibrant community of more than 30,000 structural engineers within the American Society of Civil Engineers.

I will leading the panel, “Classroom to the Boardroom: Transitioning to an Entry-Level Engineer" and have a powerhouse of panelists joining me! This panel includes 2 current SEI Board of Governors, a vice president, a regional director, and all of us are involved in ASCE and SEI leadership roles in different capacities.

I am so excited for this panel and am thankful for this opportunity to speak to engineering students and fellow early career professionals about this important topic.

What questions do you have for me about the transition to post-graduation life? Also if you have any must see, eat, etc. places in Atlanta, please let me know!
