We congratulate Chiaka Ogbogu, the daughter of former NTMC Emergency Room Dr. Henry Ogbogu, for winning a Silver medal at the Olympics and being named Best Middle Blocker. She is a graduate of Coppell HS, where she was named the 2012 Gatorade HS Player of the Year, and the University of Texas, where she left with the most blocks and assists in school history. We know Dr. Ogbogu is proud!

There will be increased first responder activity at W. E. Chalmers Elementary School for an active shooter drill today, Tuesday 7/30 and tomorrow, Wednesday 7/31 in the afternoons.

The drill provides first responders an opportunity to train together during an active shooter simulation. This is only a drill and no cause for concern.

As of the 23rd of July Cooke County residents have received $4,910,414 in financial assistance from FEMA. This does not include funds and materials provided by Red Cross, VOAD, and other agencies/sources. Money will never be able to replace or adequately compensate people for their loss but it is what we can do to help get them back to where they were pre disaster. This is a marathon, not a sprint. Thank you to everyone that has helped in any way to this point.

The NTMC Auxiliary awarded scholarships to six recent graduates from Cooke County high schools. The students were presented their awards at Thursday's Auxiliary meeting by Mitzi Underwood. The scholarship recipients include (left to right): Logan Roane (Valley View), Emma Baker (Lindsay), Lexi Woolsey (Callisburg), Makayla Stokx (Callisburg), Celeste Buenos-Aires (Gainesville) and Emily Espinsosa (Gainesville, not pictured). Congratulations to them all, and best of luck as you continue your education and look to a future in healthcare.

Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Driver License Offices (DLOs) across the state are currently closed due to a technical issue which is related to the global CrowdStrike incident. Customers with appointments should have been notified of the closure. Our IT teams are working diligently on a fix to the issue, however, there is no current estimate on when DLOs will be able to reopen. Please monitor DPS’ social media and the DPS website for updates.

Need a kid-free break to cool down? Join us for Adult Swim! We are opening the pool up for a kid-free block of time at the Leonard Park Aquatic Center. Use the time to swim laps, exercise, or just hang out on a lounge chair. No matter what your “me time” might look like, it just got a little cooler with adults-only pool time.
