This week, Definitely 90s and the Saltire Indie Show is all abuzz about the #SixNations2025 with playlists packed with acts from Scotland, England, Ireland, Wales, Italy and France.
Definitely 90s kicks things off at 8pm. We're filling the nostalgia glass to full and running over with throwback sounds from Del Amitri, The Shamen, Daft Punk, Enya, Vanessa Paradis, Space & Cerys Matthews. There's a forgotten nugget from Corona, an absolute belter from Shirley Bassey - yes, Shirley Bassey, in the 90s, it happened! Plus I pose a question about a sports stadium favourite.
Then at 9pm it's all about the home nations with the Saltire Indie Show (my education on French and Italian indie is till in progress!) There's tracks from Primal Scream Melin Melyn Johnny Marr Bottle Rockets Hamish Hawk Fontaines D.C. Check out new drops from Inhaler and Manic Street Preachers Plus the Vintage Inspiration is probably the biggest British band of all time. And loads more to get your weekend off to a flying start.

Welcome to the weekend! Hope you're keeping safe and tucked up at home. As we're all staying in tonight, why not let me take care of the entertainment with two awesome hours of choons.
First up, grab yourself a big glass of nostalgia as we head back to the 90s at 8pm. I'm bringing sounds from 2 Unlimited, R.E.M, Artful Dodger, Chesney Hawkes. I make a confession about the common room antics in my last year at school. Plus I'm digging right to the bottom of the memory drawer with a forgotten gem from a Swedish dance rap combo and do you remember a genre called Toytown Techo?
Then at 9pm it's guitars at the ready for the Saltire Indie Show. This week we're checking out tracks from Reef BODEGA Teenage Fanclub The Last Dinner Party The Sherlocks The Cure. There's fresh out the packet tracks from The Lottery Winners and The Wombats. The Vintage Inspiration is an artist who has been in our ears consistently for nearly five decades. Plus loads more to rock your Friday!

Set your reminders for Monday at 9pm and get ready to celebrate as Definitely Rock marks Show #100! I'm going to take you on a guided tour of my music heritage. The songs I played on my tiny record player, the bands whose music had a big influence on my teenage years, to the music I've discovered since I started hosting Definitely Rock. Expect tracks from David Bowie, Blondie, Carter USM, Garbage, Yard Act, Wet Leg. There's a somewhat reverse guilty pleasure (all will be explained) and a cover of a track from my parents' favourite band, done by my favourite band. It's gonna be a corker, so m'on join me for this very special one.

The next day...
What a day, what an adventure, what an experience!
I'm not sure where to even begin with this, but here goes. First, a shout out to the #TeenagerWhoRocks who joined us. Jessica was great company and lots of fun, and kept a pair of middle aged, Wu-Wu fuelled women who had blankets and menopause supplements in their bags (pure rock n roll!) well in check - we do need grown up supervision at times! And also to David, who gave up his birthday to come and pick us up and get us safely home, much appreciated.
Our adventure started at Buck's Bar. A new eatery to me, it's a chicken based menu and wowza - the portions! I scoffed the three piece which was the best part of three chicken breasts in seasoned crumb with a portion of salt and chilli fries. I was not paying over the odds for food at the stadium so I was well filled for the day. Reasonably priced and the music is good, too.
It was then off to Spoons where the feather boas were adorned and a cocktail pitcher consumed, before heading off to Hampden. This will be my fifth visit to a football stadium and I've yet to see a game of football! Of course there was the mandatory visit to the merch stand and a new t-shirt added to my collection. All Pink's tees and sweatshirts are ladies' fit - the reason being women have had to put up with men's fit band tees for years. More acts need to get on board with providing ladies' fit merch.
The first act on stage was Gayle. I'm not at all familiar with her music other than the #1 single she had last year, the version of which I know is a very radio friendly version to the actual song! But she was very good, unapologetic for her slightly spicy lyrics, engaged the crowd and coped very well with a Judy Finnigan style wardrobe malfunction.
It was then The Script's turn. To be honest, they've always been in my "they're all right" category. I wouldn't have been first in a queue to go see them. But I thoroughtly enjoyed their set. It was one of their first gigs sinc
