Hello everyone! My name is Rhea, I'm 18 years old and I'm here today to interpret for you a folksong about "Magtanim ay di biro".
INTRODUCTION:
Magtanim Hindi Biro; "transl. "Planting is not a joke") is a popular Tagalog folk song composed by Felipe de León. The song tells of the struggles of farmers, how one must twist and bend to plant rice in the muddy paddies all day, with no chance to sit nor stand.
BODY:
It’s a song that tells about the difficulties of the life of a farmer, how one has to bend over the entire day, with no time to sit and no time to stand. And then it goes on to summon the listener to join in, to keep the industrious spirit alive, to continue the hard work in the hopes of securing a brighter future. Wonderful how the song reflects the positive, hopeful mentality of the Filipino.
CONCLUSION:
The dedication and sacrifice of the farmers fed thousands of people all over the country. The author of the song depicts that being a farmer is a noble and honorable work. Author said that being a farmer isn't joke and we shouldn't take this situation or their life status into a grant. We should give importance their hardship to the work.
