The magazine looked at "prize money, salaries, and bonuses" on the field, as well as "sponsorship deals, appearance fees, and memorabilia." The seasoned forward came out on the top against a number of world-class rivals. Ronaldo earned $136 million over the past 12 months

Uganda’s President Yoweri Museveni has praised his country’s relationship with Russia. In an interview with Russia’s Tass news agency, the veteran leader said Uganda wants to export milk, beef, footwear, coffee, tea, cocoa, tropical fruit, and grain that cannot grow in cold countries to Russia. In return, Russia can sell fertilizers, oil, and petrochemicals to Uganda 🇺🇬 .

Islamic police in Nigeria's northern Kano state has issued a warning that anyone found eating in public during Ramadan will be punished. Muslims are required to fast from dawn till sunset during the entire holy month. In a statement, the religious police force, known as Hisbah Board, also said their forces have been deployed to mosques to ensure the safety of people and property over the month-long fast of Ramadan. Hisbah Board enforces Islamic law in Kano, a largely Muslim state. The warning by the Islamic police doesn't apply to Christians in that state.

In South Africa, President Cyril Ramaphosa warned Julius Malema's Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) and other organizations involved in the planned national shutdown on Monday 20 that security organs will not tolerate disorder and anarchy at their intended mass demonstration on Monday. Malema will be calling for the immediate resignation of President Ramaphosa. "Whether they kill or not, we will be on the streets of South Africa. We don't care what the security cluster says. No one can stop a revolution," Malema vowed.

Vladimir Putin, Russia's president is a wanted man. The International Criminal Court (ICC) has issued a warrant for his arrest. The court alleges he is responsible for war crimes, including the unlawful deportation of children from Ukraine to Russia. The court also said the Russian leader failed to stop others who deported children, however Moscow has denied all the allegations.

Broadcasting stations in Nigeria are being sanctioned for failing to adhere to broadcasting laws in their coverage of last month's general election.

The National Broadcasting Commission has sanctioned 25 stations and issued a final warning to 16 other broadcast stations for various poll-related offences.

Messi joined PSG on a two-year contract in the summer of 2021 – with his deal up for renewal in coming June. Morocco, the first African nation to reach the men's FIFA World Cup semi-finals, wants to join Spain and Portugal's bid to host the 2030 tournament. The three countries' football federations will meet in Rwanda on Wednesday before announcing any changes. The FIFA Congress will take place a day later in the central African nation. The hosts are expected to be picked in September next year.

Pope Francis has suggested that the ban on Catholic priests having s*x may be changed because the celibacy is not "eternal" like ordination. The 86-year-old pontiff told Argentine publication Infobae that while celibacy is a "gift from God," it is also a "provisional" observed mostly by Western churches.

Former Senegalese Prime Minister Cheikh Hadjibou Soumare has spent his first night in police custody after asking President Macky Sall if he had financed a French politician. Soumare's lawyer told local media that the former PM had been summoned by police over his letter to the president about the alleged donation. In the letter, Soumare had asked the president whether he had donated $12.7m to a "French political figure" whose party is distinguished "by hatred and rejection of others." The Senegalese government has already denied making any financial donation to the leader of France's National Rally Marine Le Pen, who visited Sall on January 18.

Kenya's First Lady Rachael Ruto has offered to help an MP find a wife. John Paul Mwirigi, who is serving his second term in Central Kenya, was elected to Parliament in 2017 at the age of 23, becoming the youngest MP in Kenya. The politician who was reelected last year under President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) is now 29. According to Mrs Ruto, the parliamentarian needs a wife who she says will make his constituents cups of tea when they visit their leader's home.

For the first time in Tanzania's history, the president has attended an International Women's Day event organized by the main opposition party, Chadema. Chadema chairman Freeman Mbowe praised President Samia Suluhu Hassan's attendance, saying it was the result of reconciliation talks. Ms Samia, who addressed thousands in the meeting, stated that reconciliation in Tanzanian politics remained underway, and that certain steps had already been taken, while others were in the pipeline, including the finding a new constitution.
