We would not have had COVID vaccines today if not the massive financial support of governments.

Only Few countries participated in financing work on vaccines such as research, production and distribution.

The USA, through its Operation Warp Speed, co-financed among others: Moderna, SANOFI and GlaxoSmithKline, NOVAVAX, AstraZeneca, Johnson & Johnson (Janssen Pharmaceutical).
Pfizer-BioNTech – got support from Germany and the USA.

China is financing, inter alia, Sinopharm, India – Covaxin, Russia is financing the production of Sputnik V through the Gamaleya Research Institute.

Researchers are currently testing 67 vaccines in clinical trials on humans. At least 89 preclinical vaccines are under active investigation in animals (data as of January 29, 2021).

The race for the vaccine is accelerating with every attempt to break the price-per-dose, making the poorest countries suffer the most.

Vaccine manufacturers direct them in the first place to countries to which they have obligations and where the profits are greatest.

The World Health Organization chief on 18 January 2021 warned that the world was on the brink of a ‘catastrophic moral failure’ on distributing vaccines which were mostly ‘hoovered up’ by wealthy countries.

During WHO’s week-long executive board meeting, Director-General Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus lamented that Guinea received a mere 25 vaccine doses while over 39 million jabs have been administered in nearly 50 richer nations.

India and South Africa have let a push at the WHO to waive intellectual property rights for Covid-19 vaccines and treatments, which activists say could significantly increase supplies of both by allowing any qualified manufacturer to produce them without fear of being sued or prosecuted.
Countries including the UK, US and Canada have opposed the IP waiver while at the same time buying up or reserving enough vaccine to inoculate their populations at least four times.

Survey statistics are changing. Almost 40% of people want to be vaccinated against COVID.

Meanwhile, in my country - Poland:

1. Vaccination against Covid has started. We currently have only the Pfizer vaccine.
2. The government funded research into a drug for Covid.
This drug is used as an experiment and is very effective. It's called Amantadine.
It was once used to treat influenza A, but is now given to patients with Parkinson's disease.

Amantadine's patent protection has expired, so any pharmaceutical company can produce it without restrictions.
It is a very cheap drug.
3. Highlanders living mainly from tourism have formed a group that openly opposes the restrictions related to COVID.
4. Strong media pressure on vaccination.

Do You know:
64 vaccines are in clinical trials on humans, and 20 have reached the final stages of testing.

At least 85 preclinical vaccines are under active investigation in animals (by Carl Zimmer, Jonathan Corum and Sui-Lee Wee. The New York Times).

The EU is considering the use of 6 covid vaccines.

- 6 different manufacturers,
- 3 different types of vaccines - mRNA, hybrid and classic.

Poll summary. Data for December 22:

34% of people want to be vaccinated against COVID-19
42% of people consider COVID-19 as a real threat
54% of people are not afraid of COVID-19.

Important events since the last summary (December 14-22):

- starting vaccinations in the USA and Great Britain,
- detection of a new strain of covid virus in the UK,
- closure of air connections to the UK due to the detection of a new strain of the virus,
- occurrence of allergic complications in some vaccinated people - small scale,
- heavy media pressure on vaccination - in all countries.

On November 2, I started counting how many of my relatives and distant friends had or has Covid. Before that, I didn’t know anyone with Covid.

Poll summary - after 7 days:

30% of people want to be vaccinated against COVID-19
38% of people consider COVID-19 as a real threat
59% of people are not afraid of COVID-19.

The trend has not changed for a week. The Poll, although it does not have a large range, was shared in Great Britain, USA, Poland, Italy, Hungary, Germany - there was relatively the greatest "response".
And the trend remained unchanged all the time ...
