A Night of Talent, Glamour and Wit

The much-awaited coronation night of Mr. & Ms. SMA 2022 pageant started with a production number; flanked by many spectators at the Radiant Shell of Jasaan, December 13, 2022.

With fluorescent lights on the stage, the sixteen aspiring candidates came out with confidence and charisma. Loud cheers and yells echoed as families, classmates, and friends came to support. The first set of special awards were immediately announced; Mr. and Ms. Photogenic, Best in Theme Wear, and Best in Talent, followed by the sports attire presentation and awarding of the second set of special awards; Mr. and Ms. Bodega Bites and Best in Production Number.

The judging committee was composed of pageant experts and artists in the locale namely Ms. Darling Salcedo Elarmo, Mr. Alpie Glen Absin, Mr. Kent S. Icayan, and the chairman of the board, Mr. Pol Nabong together with the new Miss Kuyamis Jasaan 2023, Ms. Jeremie Rafinan.

The aspiring candidates changed into their school uniform and awarding of the third set of special awards; Mr. and Ms. Natasha, Mr. and Ms. Face of Khayeshima, Mr. and Ms. Face of Equalitea and Mr. and Ms. Best in Sports Attire.

During a short break, a message was given by the Municipal Mayor of Jasaan, Hon. Mayor Redentor S. Jardin. “I wish the candidates good luck and I hope to see them in the future representing the municipality of Jasaan in a bigger pageant", he quoted.

The sixteen candidates then came out once again for their formal wear and awarding of the fourth and final set of special awards beginning with, Mr. and Ms. Friendship, Mr. and Ms. Best in School Uniform, Mr. and Ms. Best in Formal Wear, and Campus Choice Award. The competition is getting intense when the top 5 finalists are announced, both candidate no. 5, 6, 7, and 8 are still in the competition together with candidate no. 1 and 2.

The most anticipated part of the evening has finally arrived; the question-and-answer segment. Each contestant tried their hardest to answer the question and persuade the judges that they are deserving of the title Mr. and Ms. SMA 2022.

The preliminary competition of Mr. and Ms. SMA 2022 pageant began with each department getting ready to showcase their creativity, elegance, and wit on December 12, 2022, at the Radiant Shell of Jasaan.

The event commenced with a welcome message by the school principal, S. Ma. Virginia V. Adubal, RVM, followed by the candidates from the different departments as they pose for their superhero-themed costume, and aureate for their individual introduction. It is sequentially followed by the talent portion where the candidates showcased their different unique talents. The audience witnessed a parade of talents ranging from dancing, singing, acting, instrument playing; Marians got it all. The competition were judged by Ms. Darling Salcedo, Mr. Kent Icayan, Mr. Alpie Glen Absin, and the chairman of the board of judges, Mr. Pol Nabong.

The night ended with their free speech where they convinced the people why they deserve a Mr. and Ms. SMA crown.

SMA Days Launch Off 2022

Saint Mary's Academy of Jasaan (SMAJ) kicks off the first day of the eagerly anticipated SMA days 2022 through a parade around the town, along with the students, faculty members, and the RVM Sisters.

As the school touches down in the town’s covered court, the program starts off with a prayer, followed by the national anthem and the welcome message of the school principal, S. Ma. Virginia V. Adubal, RVM to the students and alumni. The lighting of the 113th Flame of Success was led by the student activity coordinator, Mr. Aldren G. Amor, together with the young athletes who have competed in the national level, followed by the presentation of the SMA Marching Band.

After the event is through, the students proceed to the school's main entrance to witness the ribbon-cutting ceremony by the school Principal along with our Municipal Mayor, Hon. Redentor S. Jardin to officially declare the start of SMAJ Open House.

As the night falls, the representatives get ready to showcase their creativity, elegance, and wit for the Mr. and Ms. SMA 2022 preliminary pageant.

SMA Marching Band glitters and flickers in pink and sapphire; wows crowd in Drum and Lyre Showdown

As an early celebration for the feast day today of Our Lady of Immaculate Conception, the Local Government Unit of the Municipality of Jasaan organizes the yearly Drum and Lyre Corps showdown from the different elementary and secondary schools, December 7, 2022.

The parade began precisely at 8:00 AM which includes the participation of the barangay officials, teachers and students of the 27 different schools. All of them have assembled to take part in the march. After the town parade, the program commenced with a welcome message by Municipal Councilor, Hon. Grace Edades, followed by the message of the Chairman of Education, Municipal Councilor Hon. Rico Valdon, and sequentially followed by the most awaited showdowns by the schools of Luz Banzon Integrated School, Bobuntagan National High School, Danao National High School, Jasaan National High School, and most especially, Saint Mary's Academy of Jasaan, Inc. (SMAJ).

SMAJ was the last presenter; awaited by many as it holds the undefeated title. SMAJ shook the Jasaan ground and amused the crowd on how they change its ordinary color of blue and white to pink and blue. The crowd applauded loud and appreciated the new costume. In harmony with hops and shouts, the day bloomed brighter when the SMA marching band wrapped up the event with a boom.

After the 3-year stern restrictions because of the pandemic, the Municipality of Jasaan was able to finally regain its strength in supporting events that will help boost the tourism of the Municipality of Jasaan.

Spearheaded by the Sports Club members, the annual and much-awaited Intramurals 2022 culmination took place on October 28 at St. Mary's Academy of Jasaan, Inc. The Grade 10 Celestial Bishops, Grade 9 Noble Knights, Grade 8 Ethereal Rooks, and Grade 7 Valorous Pawns competed in various sports and activities last October 26 and 27, striving to be declared this year's overall intramural champion.

Moderated by Mr. Aldren G. Amor together with Ms. Charlene Mabanta, the event went successfully starting with the awarding of Most Valuable Players and Special Awards to the young athletes, followed by the awarding of winners for Bench Yell Competition with Grade 9 as 3rd runner-up, Grade 7 as 2nd runner-up, Grade 10 as 1st runner-up, and Grade 8 as the Bench Yell Champion; continued with the awarding of the Galaw Pilipinas Competition with Grade 7 as 3rd runner-up, Grade 9 as 2nd runner-up, Grade 10 as 1st runner-up, and Grade 8 as Galaw Pilipinas Champion.

As the school's Jubilee Hall was filled with cheers and joy, one of the most awaited part of the culmination was the awarding of overall champion of the Intramurals 2022, with Grade 7 Valorous Pawns as 3rd runner-up, Grade 9 Noble Knights as 2nd runner-up, Grade 10 Celestial Bishops as 1st runner-up, and finally the Grade 8 Ethereal Rooks as the overall champion of the Intramurals 2022.

Intramurals 2022: A Display of Faith, Service, and Excellence

October 27, 2022 is the second day of SMAJ Intramurals. The day began with a morning praise conducted by the grade 10 students.
The volleyball, and badminton championships were continued, while the chess competition, scrabble, table tennis, and "Larong Lahi" such as sungka, tug of war, tumbang lata, chinese garter, rice planting, dampa, marble relay, patintero, paper blowing, takyang, slipper game, message relay, and trip to Jerusalem were launched.

Intramurals 2022: A Display of Faith, Service and Excellence

Saint Mary’s Academy of Jasaan Inc. (SMAJ) commenced the much anticipated Intramurals on October 26, 2022 at the Radiant Shell of Jasaan with the theme “Transformative Ignacian Marian: Empowering Youth the Synodal Way”.

Under the guidance of Sister Ma. Hedelita D. Bagatua, RVM, the event began with the Living Rosary, in which the parents and students served as the beads of the rosary. The SMAJ Drum and Lyre Corp led the around the town parade.

Ms. Lyla Ventianne Edurot, Sports Club President, delivered her welcome message, “May the spirit of sportsmanship reign in every player's heart. May winning be our driving force and goal, just do your best and don’t forget to have fun.”

The athletes who have competed at the national level, Zandrew Khalil Anothy P. Zayas, Clark Valdezamo, Patricia Louise B. Rivera, Jake Rollen S. Tamayo, Marjorie Balangiao, and Aloysios Augustus C. Valmores, led the lighting of the athletic urn while, Marjorie Balangiao, the Supreme Student Government (SSG) President led the oath of amateurism.

The school’s principal, Sister Ma. Virginia V. Adubal, RVM, declared the opening of Intramurals 2022. She also extended her sincerest gratitude to everyone who contributed time and effort in making the event possible.

The preliminary competition for Mr. and Ms. SMA 2022 took place on the first day of intramurals; the Galaw Pilipinas (Field Demo) and the Bench Yell from the various departments, beginning with the Grade 7 department, The Valorous Pawns, followed by the Grade 8 department, The Ethereal Rook, the Grade 9 department, The Noble Knights, and finally the Grade 10 department, The Celestial Bishops were presented after Ms. Liza Virtudazo introduced the judges and provided the criteria. Following that, the first game of the day began with the ball games, starting with the basketball competition, the volleyball competition women’s division and the badminton competition.

Spearheaded by the Sports Club moderator Mr. Aldren Amor together with the Youth for Environment in Schools (YES) Club moderator, Ms. Charlene Mabanta, the event went successful as every Ignacian Marian student actively cooperated and participated.
