It’s Not Goodbye, It’s Au Revoir

We have some big news.

The current issue of Wayfinder—the one with the awesome green cover—will be the last.

Well… Sort of.

Wayfinder is merging with West of 105, a lifestyle product that covers Colorado west of Denver. Both are part of the same media family—Meridian 105 Media—but as West of 105 includes the Uncompahgre Valley, it’s for the greater good to bring them together.

The awesome content created by and about people, businesses and life in the Uncompahgre Valley for Wayfinder over the last two years will migrate over to West of 105, and we will continue to produce the same quality of content moving forward. In fact, we have already started migrating and publishing new content on Westof105.com including John Wagner’s story on the firefighting helitack crew based in Montrose.

This page will eventually be removed, but that won’t happen for a while. However, we encourage you to follow West of 105 on Facebook and Instagram () and to sign up to the West of 105 newsletter (link at the bottom). We’ll be giving away gear and tickets to events there, in addition to sharing more about what an awesome state Colorado is.

Thank you for all supporting Wayfinder over the last couple of years, and we hope you’ll join us as we evolve and grow with West of 105.

Wayfinder magazine has partnered with Montrose Animal Shelter to aid the adoption process for dogs and cats (and the occasional rabbit, guinea pig and whatever else comes through their doors).

The idea is generally to help the shelter find homes for otherwise hard to adopt pets, usually older pets or pets that are on their final path towards the rainbow bridge.

We may have mentioned once or twice that Wayfinder can now be found onboard Telluride Express shuttles between Montrose and Telluride!

Well, the awesome Jacob at Telluride Express sent us some photos of copies of Wayfinder going on a little trip!

We imagine this is exactly what it's like to see your kid going off to school on the bus on their own for the first time.

Telluride Express is part of CO West Transportation which offers shared and private ground transportation services between Denver and pretty much all points west!

Montrose is about to get a new brewery!

Chelsea and Kevin McHugh of SJB fame decided the time was right for them to pursue there long-held dream of opening their own brewery. The plan is for Pomona Brewing Company to open its doors in the first quarter of 2023 on the corner of Townsend and North 9th.

As you can see from this photo, they have a lot of work to do!

We'll update regularly on their progress, but you can and should also follow them on IG and FB!!

Wayfinder issue #6 is hitting the streets this week (a smidge later than originally planned but we do have a new fresh design; let us know what you think).

Later this month on September 24 between 10am and 4pm is Culture Fest 2022 at the Ute Indian Museum! In conjunction with HAP: Hispanic Affairs Project, Culture Fest 2022 is celebration of the diverse groups that make up the community we live in!

We have some awesome events coming up in the next few weeks and moths in the area including the Crop Duster on September 17th, a timed road bike ride with 34-mile and 57-mile routes that will take riders around the valley so they can see where a lot of the food we eat is grown!

The ride is a fundraiser for the awesome Valley Food Partnership, a local nonprofit that connects local agriculture with local people!

After the ride there is a harvest party starting at 1 pm at the Montrose Rotary Amphitheater with Eddie 9V, La La Bones, and 2 Cents and Change.

Today is the grand opening of the Sauvage Spectrum tasting room in Ouray. The Palisade winery has been killing it since they opened a few years ago. Now visitors to and residents of the Uncompahgre Valley have this awesome new spot to enjoy while tasting the great estate wines the Sauvage team are producing.
