May 11th marks more than just 11 days until my May 22nd birthday. It's also the birthday of the legendary Surrealist artist, Salvador Dali. Two years ago on this day, I celebrated Dali's birthday at Café de Flore in Paris, the birthplace of Surrealism, to symbolically release the Surrealistically-inspired "second volume" of Imagine, the digital magazine of the art and culture of the human imagination, featuring Dali on the "cover" naturally.
Launched in the spirit of the iconic anthem by John and Yoko, Imagine is and was a great celebration of creative imagination spotlighting hundreds of creative visionaries and their imaginative visions for themselves and the world. Coming out of the global pandemic, the project is and was in some sense a catalyst and conduit for the beginnings of a movement driven by imagination in action, a motivating spark to help get Us to wherever We are going.
The next stage of Imagine-nation has since been distilling behind stage curtains, nurturing patiently in incubation, gestating privately behind closed doors. Meanwhile, we've all been quite busy, it seems, working on-out our own individual trips and personal projects of immortality. But today on this special day, I'm called to ask all who were a vital part of Imagine and all making a difference by living more imaginatively: Are We yet ready to roll up our sleeves and come together as an empowered Creative Community? If so, in what form and by what collective force and through what level of support do you Imagine that could and should come to be?
