Quick reminder: Derek Chauvin murdered a man. On video. Slowly. It took four days after literally being filmed willfully snuffing out the life of another human being for him to be arrested.

His trial has finally begun. Almost a year later.

He has had at least 18 complaints of misconduct and excessive force lodged against him as an officer. Imagine how many more abuses weren’t reported. He has a long-standing history of being easily angered and reactionary. THIS WAS NOT A SURPRISE. THIS WAS A PROVEN PATTERN OF ESCALATING BEHAVIOR.

Like many police forces, including our own, he did not even live in the community which he was supposed to be serving.

THERE ARE MANY DEREK CHAUVINS infecting our communities like a virus of violence of hate. THESE are the people “protecting and serving”.

I am unapologetic: ABOLISH the police. This does not work. The police forces in this country are abusive and corrupt from their roots, to their core, to their branches. These violent, ego-driven, god-complex infested people are put into positions of so-called “authority” and sicced on our most vulnerable.

I will not stand for it. And neither should you.

Killings by Police Declined after Black Lives Matter Protests - Scientific American

It found that municipalities where BLM protests have been held experienced as much as a 20 percent decrease in killings by police, resulting in an estimated 300 fewer deaths nationwide in 2014–2019.

The difference was significant in this study: it found police killings fell by 16.8 percent on average in municipalities that had BLM protests, compared with those that did not. When Campbell compared municipalities that already had similar trends in police homicides before BLM began, the estimate rose to 21.1 percent.

And not all cities experienced declines amid the protests. Police homicides increased in Minneapolis, Portland, San Francisco and St. Louis during the five-year period Campbell studied.

This happened yesterday afternoon. The Hollywood Fred Meyer and Portland Police guarded a dumpster full of perfectly good food and threatened the people, there trying to take it for redistribution or their own struggling families, with ARREST. The food was verifiably fine. THANK you to my community, who saw the opportunity to redistribute much-needed resources and showed up to put in the work to get it to those in need. SHAME on the manager for calling PPB over a goddamned dumpster. SHAME on Fred Meyer for lying about the condition of the food to excuse the actions of their employee instead of holding them accountable. And F**K YOU, TED WHEELER, AND YOUR PPB GOONS, for your ongoing abusive and generally despicable behavior toward the community you are SUPPOSED to be SERVING.

Today I witnessed something, something we should all still be aware of and loud about.

A female-bodied BIPOC was approached by a female officer. Previously, I had contacted a friend to see if one of our female-presenting folx could check on her, as she was in visible distress. When the officer showed up, I remained on the phone; giving my friend a play by play so there would be multiple accounts of the interaction.

Watching the situation, and my reaction to it, reminded me that we need to continue being loud about how broken the system is. There are STILL no good cops in a racist system. THERE WILL *NEVER* BE GOOD COPS IN A RACIST SYSTEM. Some individuals who have chosen the profession for honorable reasons are, likely, good people. Those good people can never be good cops.

Why? They lose their position of "cop" when they're good. When they uphold the morally just and humane.

We still need to abolish the system and rebuild one that meets the needs of the community. That addresses conflict appropriately, and rightfully acknowledges that true intervention DOES NOT come in the form of prosecution for profit. That it CAN ONLY be through treatment, rehabilitation, and housing the houseless (those who want it). Among so many other positive, first-level, intervention strategies.

The incident resolved well, for those curious. It appears she had called for them. When I felt comfortable - and there were other observers present - leaving, she was seeking shelter from the cold and rain in the cruiser. Not detained or confined; the [redacted] left the door between them in a way that allowed for departure. The two male-bodied [redacted] kept their distance while taking notes for the lead. They showed a rare display of compassion. However, none of them could be good cops.

This resolution is not as common place as is just. As it OUGHT to be. We won one battle; that against a fascist, rotten, orange. We still have a lot of work to do. We earned a respite. Don't become complacent.

You probably should have checked with your boss if your seditious act is in line with company policy,

you probably should have checked with your attorney if your seditious act costs you your federal benefits,
you probably should have checked with your airline if your rowdy behavior gets you on the no-fly list,
you probably should have checked with your district attorney if your pictures in the act gets you charged.

So, again. Did you achieve what you set out to achieve and was it worth it?

This is “activist John”. He is not a part of the movement. Under the guise of the movement he has consistently worked against us, placed us in dangerous situations, and gotten people hurt. I watched people being tased and pulled out of their car and beaten on live streams.
My brother was shot SIX times by police while marching.
I saw men, women, and children being shot at with rubber bullets in the eye, head, groin, and neck.

DC: right-wing terrorists have charged into the capitol building to just outside the senate chamber. Members of congress have been told to put on gasmasks. Reports of shots fired inside the capitol. Police have so far responded with tiny little self-defense "bullet" mace and someone (unknown who) popped some kind of gas or smoke inside the building.

The left would have been shot with live rounds before they even crossed the lawn. Meanwhile, security forces are acting like this is a surprise? Like this hadn't been publicly planned by the right by multiple parties for WEEKS? And yesterday a statement was made that the United States won't tolerate an antifascist movement... Does anyone else still have faith in this country or our leadership? Is anyone not genuinely scared yet? Because you should be.
