"In early January 2022, Maricopa County issued a detailed analysis demonstrating that Cyber Ninjas’ report about its voting process made 22 misleading claims, 41 inaccurate claims, and 13 claims that were false.

“An empty piñata is a pretty accurate description of the ‘audit’ as a whole,” the county tweeted.

"Many tribes did not have the broadband access needed to apply for the funding that would let them improve broadband access.

Information about the first round of grants was available only online, and tribes were encouraged to apply online in a 90-day window during the pandemic. The upshot, said Matthew Rantanen, was that only about half of all eligible tribal communities applied for the funding."

The push for passage of the Build Back Better Act got a potential boost late Monday as the United Mine Workers of America, the coal miners’ union that Sen. Joe Manchin counts as a key ally, called on the right-wing Democratic senator to reconsider his opposition to his party’s signature economic agenda.

UMWA president Cecil Roberts outlined several provisions in the $1.75 trillion investment in anti-poverty programs and climate action which would directly benefit the union’s 80,000 members, and made clear that coal miners are counting on the West Virginia lawmakers to “revisit his opposition.”

"As part of the pressure campaign, Patriotic Millionaires members—including Karen Stewart of Arizona, a former Certified Financial Planner and finance professor—took out full-page ads in local newspapers and plan to hold demonstrations outside Sinema’s regional office to demand that she change her stance on the loophole.

“Sinema’s support for preserving the carried interest loophole for Wall Street elites comes at the expense of the tax-paying voters in her own backyard,” said Stewart. “Special interests and wealthy lobbyists should not decide the future of our nation. What American families need right now are lawmakers willing to prioritize them over the millionaires and billionaires, not a mouthpiece for the already rich and powerful.”"

Eighteen states, two territories, and the District of Columbia have legalized cannabis for recreational use, all in the past decade. Twenty-seven states—ranging from New York to North Dakota—plus D.C. have decriminalized the possession of small amounts of cannabis. Thirty-six states, three territories, and D.C. have allowed for the medical use of cannabis. And a number of tribal governments have legalized cannabis for various purposes.
