Hey all! Happy ! Though we've transitioned away from Twitter (and might transfer back, but doubtful), we've moved to Mastodon, Bluesky, Threads, and now this image-based Instagram format! Season 4 of the podcast is officially in the planning stages and I'm plotting ways to get the website and Patreon generating their own content too.

I may start posting some content here even! Sky's the limit!

Standing on the Graves of Gods, The backstory to how Godyssey was born.

Godyssey is an idea born while standing on the grave of Gods in Ireland. A transformative trip, spending time in Ireland brought the myths a live as are saw the stories painted across the landscape.

Oh, hey.

Figured I'd give an update here, since I never do. Facebook quickly became the least optimal of the three initial social networks I use for Godyssey, with the least amount of feedback outside of dank memes and there not being much of a community interested in conversation, in discussion, and whatnot. For a Page, you post stuff and people listen, reshare, and you can interact with them sure, but it never felt right the way Twitter did. IG I found a bit more fun with than Facebook, but by and large Twitter served my purposes more so I stuck with Twitter.

And it took off! Before the Recent Unpleasantness, we gained about 9k followers organically, and have gained another 3k since *he* took over. Yet the site seems to be collapsing, which, to avoid yet another political rant, is probably by design. If it goes, I will lose a huge chunk of that 12k followers, hundreds of whom I interact with on the regular and whom I love.

My Facebook audience is largely people I know as Greg, which is fine, but I am considering what Godyssey looks like next. I've not made a season of Godyssey since October 2021, and while it's on my mind I'm busy and rusty: but I want to. Freyja wants to be told, Gilgamesh and Enkidu and Inanna want to be told, and I want to do CuChulainn and Thor and expand beyond my major touchstones into other myths and whatnot while remaining respectful and unpresumptuous given my identity.

So Godyssey sits at a crossroads. I'm on Mastodon and as of this morning Bluesky, which I rather like. I may join Tumblr, too. Just kind of depends on how things go.

Regardless, hi there. Maybe I'll be here more often, but maybe not. Here's my Linktree with all my other links:

Oh hey, I have a Facebook! I forgot about that (lol no I didn't).

I use Facebook second-most of all social media, so there's a good chance Godyssey will continue on here if/when Twitter implodes. Who knows what a Facebook Godyssey'll look like without Twitter to dwarf it by comparison?

Thanks to the Godyssey Podcast for this information on Twitter. Samhain (pronounced Sown)is the first month of the Irish calendar, and the beginning of the dark half of the year. In Gaelic folklore it is this time the Caileach lays out her cloak and walks with her frosty hammer, covering the land in ever-increasing white.
