Blessed Yule everyone! May this longest night be filled with the warmth of family, whether chosen or blood, and the hope of a prosperous next year. Tonight we'll be having a hearty potato and smoked fish soup from Scotland called Cullen Skink and some roasted carrots.... And a slice from our yule log cake of course 😉. We'll be burning away the trials of this year and dreaming of the sun's return.

"Selfish" I hate that word. People throw it around too frequently. Take a day for yourself to just be alone and you’re “selfish”. Buy something nice with the money you work hard for and you’re “selfish”. Cut off people who leech off you and you’re “selfish”. Don’t get me wrong, there are plenty of selfish people in the world, but we kick that word around so often that now people feel guilty about self-care and personal boundaries, worrying that maybe they’ll be the next to be labeled as such. Well this week we’ve got rose quartz, full to bursting with love of all kinds, romantic, familial, and of course self; and hibiscus used in spells of passion but also self-confidence.

This week Selenite shines from out of the darkness. It brings a peaceful white light to your home and your space. It reflects the sun just as we can reflect the light that we see in others. I am pleased to announce also that my broth spell? Totally worked. I can highly recommend Parsley for your magical needs, which is why we’re talking about it in this episode! This plant of Persephone will freshen your breath and bring you luck. Listen, you don’t need ANY tools to be a witch. All you need is yourself. But I made a list of witchy tools and their uses and also gave you some cheap (or even free!) alternatives if you’re a broke ass witch or you love a bargain. What tools do you use that make you feel particularly magical?

This week we have turquoise and eucalyptus. My grandmother was a big fan of turquoise and she passed many of her pieces on to me when she passed. I still feel her when I wear them. Similarly eucalyptus (not pictured here; this is my new baby pilea) will form a gentle barrier around you. It’s cooling properties are good for clearing your sinuses, but it is poisonous to pets so use with caution! This week I tried to make a comprehensive list of different types of witches, but I’m sure I missed some so if I left you out I apologize. Maybe you identify with just one of these types, maybe you are looking into learning about a second or third type, maybe you feel like you’re a blend of several types. So tell me….what kind of witch are you??

February is always a hard month for me. It feels like there’s nothing to look forward to. Everything feels so stagnant. Last week my motivation was really low. So here is a beam of light if you’re also feeling foggy and down; the citrine. The “magic flower” of the week is motherwort. It will bring you comfort on long winter nights. This season can be hard, this past year has been hard...this Mercury Retrograde is probably harder than many you’ve experienced… Remember to take care of yourself. Mercury rules communication so beware of disagreements and missed messages! Here’s some do’s and don’ts to survive until it goes direct on the 20th!

Episode 2: Carnelian and Cinnamon is out!!! This time our star is Carnelian. Is it the second evolution of Charmander? Not quite. Metaphysical Adderall? Possibly! We touch on chakras; specifically the Sacral Chakra, how to tell when it’s out of whack, and how to get it back in balance. Ted gives us a lesson about the origin of oranges (say that 5 times fast), which may or may not be accurate. Cinnamon is this week’s herb and she is sexy and firey! Finally we talk about being mindful and purposeful in your actions, turning your everyday chores and activities into a spell or ritual; and I talk about my ADD and how magic has helped me.
