When asked recently about the recent Democratic proposal increase the minimum wage to $15 per hour, a proposal that might be included in the next COVID stimulus package or which could get a stand-alone vote, Senator Susan Collins of Maine offered this, "In fact, it would be very difficult for the hospitality industry, which has been particularly harmed." That is, unequivocally, a LIE....

Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) needs to watch his back. No, that is not a threat. There have been far too many threats in our political dialogue lately, and sadly, some attempts to make good on those threats. This is a history lesson. During the Trump era, only ONE Republican (Senator Susan Collins of Maine) voted the Trump Party line fewer than 2/3 of the time (65.1%)....

I tend to post a lot of political commentary on my page. I have some friends who are always quick with a ‘Like’ or a ‘Share’ and I have friends who never weigh in…which makes me pretty certain I have been blocked from their news-feeds so they can have a break from my constant ranting. You want a simple explanation of why Donald Trump is so formidable a candidate? Read on… Mitt Romney’s ‘47%’ comment was probably the most damaging statement of his 2012 campaign: “There are 47 percent of the people who will vote for the president no matter what. All right, there are 47 percent who are with him, who are dependent upon government, who believe that they are victims, who believe that government has a responsibility to care for them, who believe that they are entitled to health care, to food, to housing, to you name it....

“The first step in solving any problem is recognizing there is one.” America has a problem. Black men and black boys are being victimized by the legal system, the judicial system, the legislative system, and by society. Despite the all-caps tweets from President Donald Trump over the last week, it is clear America will move forward in 2021 with President-elect Joe Biden and Vice President-elect Kamala Harris. Democrats also retained control of the House of Representatives this cycle. Though the 2020 election season is over, 2021 will open with two January runoffs in Georgia that will determine which party has control of the Senate. [ 999 more words ]

One of the odd quirks about the 2020 election has been the inability to nail-down data points to facilitate projections. For example, take North Carolina. The state took a week-long pause counting ballots. The election rules in the state allow for mail ballots to arrive as late as November 12 so long as they were postmarked on or before Election Day. The media (social and otherwise) has been abuzz today with discussion of President Trump's rally in Omaha, Nebraska Tuesday night which left thousands stranded in the cold. Ever since the death of Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg in September, questions have swirled around Democratic presidential nominee and former Vice President Joe Biden. Would he “pack the court” by adding additional Justices to the Supreme Court to restore the balance the court lost with the three new Justices President Donald Trump appointed? In their 2013 decision Shelby v.
