Famous residents include Vern C. Gorst, United Airlines Mogul, Edward and Asahel Curtis, well known photograghers and, Mayor, Harold Davis (musician).

This newly constructed 230 foot pier boldly reaches out from Beach Drive, greeting the passing ferrys to and from Seattle and Bremerton much as it did since 1923 when the Mesquito fleet served the area..

Toshio Kishimoto won an Emmy Award for music he wrote for the PBS Documentary about George Tzutakawa. He invited me in on this project. There were a few places in the show that needed something different so Toshi and & I together improvised a couple songs including this one, recorded by head Engineer, Bill fast inside the KCTS Channel 9 Studio.

Olalla; a small unincorporated community on the shores of Kitsap County, Washington. So named with the Salishan and Chinook Jargon meaning, “berry” or “berries”. A former logging area, Olalla hosts a yearly Polar Bear Jump each January and an August Bluegrass Festival.

Take a lasting look at this historic Howe Barn which you will see it no more. As you read this, it is being restored. It lies half demolished and ready to be reassembled sometime in 2016. The McPherson/Howe Farm is the centerpiece of an historic working farm near Port Orchard, Washington. The gabled roof barn with board and batten siding was built by John T. "J.T." McPherson circa 1930 to serve small flocks of chicken, cows, and sheep. Traces of the original farm road remain on the property, including one encircling the barn. Grandfather "J.T." McPherson, his men, and a team of horses built the first "Mile Hill Road" that is the farm's northern boundary.

Seabeck was founded in 1857 by Marshall Blinn and William Adams, doing business as The Washington Mill Company. In 1876, there were over 400 people living in Seabeck. In 1886, after a fire consumed both mills, rumors that the mills would not rebuild spread depleting the town's population. Seabeck eventually settled into a primarily rural area. The population at the 2010 census was 1,015.

Retsil Veteran's Cemetery; Located midway up Mile Hill Road in Port Orchard, Washington. This rustic throwback to history provides a final scenic resting place for veterans dating from all the way back to the Civil War to the present. Stone wall-works line the roadside which cut's through the sectioned parcel of land as it's stone archways beckon visitors into its hallowed acreage.

Fort Worden Bunkers; Constructed in 1897 by The Army Corps of Engineers. The Army laid a pipeline from Port Townsend and pumped water into large storage tanks inside the fort. It took 200 men almost three years to complete the excavation and concrete work for the gun emplacements. Fort Worden was activated in 1902.

Port Orchard at Dawn; In 1885, inventor Sidney M. Stevens came west from Dekalb, Illinois. He purchased an 88 ½ acre homestead for $900 on Oct. 10, 1885, with the intention to start a town. By 1902 Port Orchard became the Kitsap County seat. Electric lights arrived in 1912, costing patrons $1 a month for each bulb and finally telephones by 1915.

Point Wilson Lighthouse; Since 1879 this lighthouse has served as one of the most important navigational aids in the state, overlooking the entrance to Admiralty Inlet, the waterway connecting the Strait of Juan de Fuca and Puget Sound. In 1971, The lighthouse was listed on the Washington State Heritage Register and the National Register of Historic Places. The station was automated in 1976.

The Harper Pier is a community and regional recreational asset which is operated and maintained by the Port of Bremerton. The original wood construction Harper Pier was a legacy facility built in the 1880's and was used as a dock for the Mosquito Fleet steamboats. Major renovations were completed in February 2014 allowing the Harper community better access for diving, fishing and sight seeing.

In 1993, Dan, Diane, Shanna and Will Robinson purchased an abandoned six-acre, bramble-covered landfill, undeveloped since the 1930s, located on the shores of Puget Sound. Diane coined the name, Elandan, a combination of "Elan" - French word for spirit or courage - and Dan, the true spirit of the Robinson's bonsai collection and garden. These days Dan Robinson's Bonzai collection is world renown with some additions dating over 1500 years old. Elandan Garden's has become a must see in anyone's travel agenda.

‘Point Turner’ was purchased in 1891 by German immigrant, William Bremer who arranged a sale of the 190 acre plot to the U.S. Navy for $50 pr acre where now stands The Puget Sound Navel Shipyard. Bremerton was incorporated by 1901. Manette was linked to Bremerton with the construction of the Manette Bridge in 1930, rebuilt in 2011. In 1933 construction was completed on the 250 foot Hammerhead Crane No. 28, one of the nations largest, capable of lifting 250 tons.

Established in the 1860s Manchester, Washington was originally known as Brooklyn, after the borough in New York City. By 1892 the name was changed to Manchester in honor of the city of Manchester, England. A permanent dock built in 1908, provided regular steamboat service connecting Manchester to Colby, Southworth, Harper, and finally... to Seattle.
