The young man displayed on the pictures hails from Ogbolobolo community in Ahoada west local government area, he killed this might fish called ASANIMA in Ekpeye language through thier water ways that link to Sumbraro and Orashi river in Rivers State.

He was celebrated by the community and beyond for achieving this great feat. This Fish is hardly traped, it has its traditional meaning in Ekpeye Culture.

The pictures below shows how the braved Fisher man was celebrated, cleanesed, and decorated accordingly.

Congratulations to the people of Akoh kingdom on their successful hosting of Eta ( wrestling) akoh 2021 opening ceremony.

Eta is a form of traditional sport among the Ekpeye people, where test for strength of the male gender is brought to bare....

Its a contest for the strong and brave...

The Eta season ushers in the Ogwu ekpeye (Ekpeye new yam festival) season.

Akoh kingdom is one among the six kingdoms that make up Ekpeye Ethnic nationality in Rivers state. The other kingdoms are, Ubie, igbuduya, upata, ehuda & ugbobi.

The 2021 Eta akoh kingdom which was hosted by the king of Akoh kingdom, HRM Eze Cassidy O.W Ikegbidi JP, AP was greeted with so much fun fare as kings from the other Ekpeye kingdoms graced the occasion.

Notably Amongst the dignitaries who graced the event are His Majesty Nye Udu Felix Enene Otuwarikpo, Nye Udu Upata Kingdom and Regent, Ekpeye Traditional Council, His Majesty Eze Joshua Eyiba, Eze Igbu Igbuduya; His Majesty Eze Augustine Maxwell Okpokiri, Eze Igbu Ubie, ; His Majesty King Maclean Ubou, Okilomu Ibe Engenni; His Majesty, King (Prof) Anele Uzondu Nwokoma, Eze Egi III, (Eze Ogba Ukwu ), of Ogba Land, His Royal Highness Nye Udu Kelvin Ngozi Anugwo, Nye Udu Ede Upata, His Royal Highness King Temple Jamala, O'Lema Odual, Eze Ikaki Sobere Ikaki, Chairman, Ekpeye Council of Chiefs and Traditional Rulers, Dr. Patricia Wudhiga, Ada Ekpeye Logbo and her council, Ada Akoh and her council and His Royal Highness Eze Chigemerem David, Secretary, Ekpeye Council of Traditional Rulers and Chiefs.
