I would like to give a HUGE THANK YOU to EVERYONE that shared and reposted my art last month!!! It was a lot- the support among the artists and art enthusiasts on social media was uncanny and I felt really at home making, sharing, connecting, and supporting other Indigenous artists like myself there. I gained about 100 followers (HI THANKS FOR THE FOLLOW!💜) and I reached thousands of accounts.
This whole experience was really neat, and when I finished this collage of comments... I mean... I may or may not be sobbing right now lol😂😭💜

‘Cousin’
31st and Final day of NDNartober 2024.
When My husband asked me out, the very first thing we did was go down to enrollments to cross reference our family lines. While we have no family ties, the topic sometimes resurfaces in different ways. When it does, my husband is SO QUICK to call me his ‘cousin’ JUST to gross me out! LOL

I can’t believe this is the end of NDNartober. This is the first October where I decided to take a serious stab at these prompt lists and I’m glad I finished. I hope its not too long before I post art again, but I have a lot of other work to focus on.

‘Serpent’
Day 30 of NDNartober.
Jikonhsaseh combing the snakes from Tadodaho’s hair. I think of it as a loving and brave moment for both of them, bringing an era of peace to their people after much war and chaos. Tadodaho’s tears here, for me, are in reflection of himself, who he was and accepting his new role -and the weight of it- not that I think he would have cried. I really do like the idea of a brutal war mongerer coming to tears during his transformation though. I also don’t think Jikonhsaseh would have been afraid of his snakes but maybe annoyed at them while GENTLY AND LOVINGLY transforming this evil man. lol

Day 28 of NDNartober.
I remembered a day when I needed space. My (now) Husband saw how overwhelmed I was getting by our children and put me in a ‘time out’ by gently laying me down on the floor in the middle of the kitchen. The visual of me laying down also reminded me of an old project I did where I laid down and photoshopped my hair to look like trees. So here’s my interpretation of todays prompt lol

‘Hatchet’
Day 25 of NDNartober.
My family had a Halloween party over this past weekend, and my cousin rigged up an axe throwing station in his backyard. When my family showed up, my Husband watched folks missing their shots and said ‘I thought we were supposed to be good at this!?’ He proceeded to take a turn throwing 3 hatchets at the target and made all three shots! That’s pretty much all he and our boys did for the rest of the evening lol

I guess at some point I thought the prompt was ‘pollinatorS’ and thought I had to do multiple subjects. Did you play Final Fantasy X? Remember the Magus Sisters? Yea, this idea came from that- but like, ‘brothers’ obviously lol.
